Kiehl's | Beyond Screen UV Serum SPF 50+: Review
Just in time for summer, Kiehl's released a spanking new sunscreen designed to provide invisible, lightweight protection. Formulated with chemical filters that leave no white cast, the Beyond Screen UV Serum SPF 50+ (C$57 for 50 ml) is also formulated with skincare ingredients that boost radiance and elasticity. As you probably know by now, I'm not a big fan of North American sunscreens and tend to prefer Asian sunscreens. However, I was pleasantly surprised with Kiehl's Beyond Screen UV Serum SPF 50+. Kiehl's | Beyond Screen UV Serum SPF 50+
Packaged in a glass bottle with a convenient pump dispenser, the Beyond Screen UV Serum SPF 50+ from Kiehl's is a chemical sunscreen for the face formulated with four types of chemical filters: 7% Homosalate, 7% Octocrylene, 5% Octisalate, and 3% Avobenzone. With a barely discernable scent, the Beyond Screen UV Serum SPF 50+ has a thin fluid consistency that easily spreads and blends onto the skin. The formulation absorbs very nicely, leaving behind a slightly dewy finish that's not greasy or heavy. As this is a chemical sunscreen, the formulation leaves zero white cast. Unlike some North American chemical sunscreens, the Kiehl's Beyond Screen UV Serum SPF 50+ also does not have that icky, silicone-y finish so there's no pilling and patching. However, some blotting may be needed in the T-zone to reduce shine.

Overall, this is a very nice and lightweight sunscreen. For a North American sunscreen, the formulation is rather impressive. My only gripe is with the price. Given the wide availability of affordable Asian sunscreens (usually priced around or under C$20) through online shopping, it is hard to justify paying almost C$60 for one bottle. However, if you are looking for a lightweight, non-greasy face sunscreen that's readily available at your local Sephora or Kiehl's. Then definitely give this a try!
