Coincidentally, I also received a sample of it from Olaplex to try out so I thought I would share my thoughts on it with you. Formulated with ultrafine micro starch, bentonite clay, rice starch, rambutan extract, and the Olaplex patented bond-building technology, the Olaplex No. 4D Clean Volume Detox Dry Shampoo has a floral, powdery fragrance. The formulation is very lightweight and it's pretty much invisible after spraying. There is no white cast but it also doesn't immediately soak up the grease. The direction instructs waiting 30 seconds before massaging into the scalp. After which, the formulation absorbs some oil. However, the Olaplex No. 4D Clean Volume Detox Dry Shampoo is not a "heavy-duty" dry shampoo that will completely degrease oily roots. It makes some difference but for those looking for a complete refresh, it is definitely lacking.
On the upside, the formulation is not gritty or heavy, so it may be suitable for those looking for something to hold them over for a day until they shampoo again. However, if you are someone who goes days without shampooing, the No. 4D Clean Volume Detox Dry Shampoo will not be sufficient. Currently, this product only has a 2.5/5 rating on Sephora and I'm not surprised. I think most people who opt for a dry shampoo are looking for something that will completely absorb the grease build-up on their roots. So because the Olaplex No. 4D Clean Volume Detox Dry Shampoo only gets the job half-done, it will leave many disappointed, especially at such a high price tag.
