Before I delve into the formulation and share my thoughts, I want to comment on the pricing and availability of these two sunscreens. It appears that the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) for both hovers around C$35 to C$40. However, Stylevana consistently offers them at a steeply discounted price of around C$10 each, which I find a bit odd. Additionally, neither sunscreens are readily available from other popular Korean skincare online retailers such as YesStyle or Olive Young, which is also a bit odd. So I can only conclude that either Farmstay has made Stylevana its main North American distributor or that Farmstay simply is a smaller brand that has not gained much traction in North America. These circumstances do not affect my opinion of the products or the brand but I did feel the need to address it as there seems to be little to no promotion or social media chatter for these products.
Farmstay | Tea Tree Biome Calming Sun Serum (C$11.69 for 50 ml):
Farmstay | Tea Tree Biome Calming Sun Serum |
Formulated with calming tea tree extract, soothing cica extract, strengthening bifida (bacteria) ferment lysate, and hydrating milk protein, the Farmstay Tea Tree Biome Calming Sun Serum is a lightweight sunscreen with a runny, milky appearance. Formulated with chemical filters and titanium dioxide (a physical filter) that offer SPF 45 PA++, the Tea Tree Biome Calming Sun Serum has a light tea tree scent. Because of the titanium dioxide, the formulation has a slight white tint that takes a bit of effort to blend out. It did not leave behind a white cast on my skin tone but this may not be the case for dark skin tones. The formulation is quite nourishing but it definitely left a very dewy, almost greasy finish that I did not love. I didn't experience any pilling or patching but I did have to blot a couple times during the day to prevent shine. Overall, this is a decent face sunscreen offering both

Farmstay | Tea Tree Biome Calming Sun Cream (C$9.69 for 50 ml):
Farmstay | Tea Tree Biome Calming Sun Cream |
A cream version of the Tea Tree Biom Calming Sun Serum, the Tea Tree Biome Calming Sun Cream offers a more robust sun protection of SPF 50+ PA++++. With a much thicker, creamy consistency, the Tea Tree Biome Calming Sun Cream is also formulated with a combination of physical and chemical filters. Surprisingly, the formulation is easier to blend out as compared to the serum and it feels a bit lighter. The finish is still very dewy but not as shiny. I did notice some minor pilling but overall this is a pretty good face sunscreen. Overall, both Farmstay sunscreens are better than most of the North American face sunscreens available on the market. However, they are not as elegant as some of the Korean, chemical filter-only sunscreens (Beauty of Joseon, Round Lab, SKIN1004) I've tried so for that reason, I would not repurchase them.
