Dior revamped its Rouge Dior lipsticks yet again. Formulated with red peony extract, pomegranate flower extract, and shea butter, the
Rouge Dior Couture Color Lipstick (C$66 for 3.5 g) now comes in an updated packaging that's sleeker than ever. The lipsticks are available in two finishes and over 60 shades. To read my review and see some swatches, click......
Packaging:The Dior Rouge Dior Lipstick comes in an updated case. The CD logo is simplified and the iconic cannage pattern adorns the top of the caps instead of along the band. The lipstick also features a magnetic closure that's easier to open and close. The packaging is also refillable; the refills are available for C$52 each.
Formulation:The new Rouge Dior Couture Color Lipsticks are available in two finishes: satin and velvet. The satins have a slick, creamy, and floral-scented formulation that's pigmented and hydrating. The finish is super flattering, providing the lips with a natural sheen and lightweight hydration. I have four satin shades swatched below.
458 Paris (Satin): This is a dusty petal pink with just a hint of pearlescence. The color is feminine and sophisticated at the same time.
520 Feel Good (Satin): A warm hot pink, Feel Good is very bright and saturated. I think this is a hard shade to pull off but it may work for some in the summertime.
683 Rendez-Vous (Satin): One of my favorites from the bunch, Rendez-Vous is a super flattering rosy nude that's not too cool or warm.
729 Icone (Satin): A warmer version of Rendez-Vous, Icone is a warm rose nude.
The velvet formulation is surprisingly lightweight yet pigmented. Dior appears to have made the formulation smoother and more opaque. The finish is a true matte but it doesn't feel super dry or clingy. Here are four velvet shades from the collection.
772 Classic Rosewood (Velvet): This is described as a soft rosewood but I feel the color is lighter, cooler, and pinker than expected.
777 Fahrenheit (Velvet): A warm brick red, this shade is particularly bold and spicy.
866 Together (Velvet): This is a beautiful wine red, the color is deep but not super vampy.
999 (Velvet): Last but not least is the iconic "999" red from Dior. The color is a bright warm red that will surely stand out in the crowd.
Below is a comparison swatch of all eight shades. My favorites are "683 Rendez-Vous", "720 Icone", and "866 Together".
