One of my favorite sunscreens of all time is the Bioré UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence Sunscreen (reviewed here) from Japan. So imagine my delight when I learned that a version of it is finally available in Canada! Renamed the Bioré UV Aqua Rich Weightless Moisturizer (C$17.99 for 50 ml), this sunscreen is available in both SPF 30 and SPF 50. Bioré | UV Aqua Rich Weightless Moisturizer SPF 50

Packaged in a plastic squeeze tube topped with a convenient flap cap, the new UV Aqua Rich Weightless Moisturizer SPF 50 is a water-based chemical sunscreen that offers both UVA and UVB protection. Infused with hyaluronic acid and a subtle citrus scent, the new formulation is noticeably heavier than the original Japanese version. However, it is still a relatively lightweight gel that glides beautifully on the skin. It takes a bit of effort to blend, but once fully blended, the sunscreen does not leave any white cast. The finish is slightly dewy but not greasy or icky. I did not experience any patching or pilling but I have not tried it with makeup to see how it layers.

Overall, the Canadian version of the Bioré UV Aqua Rich Weightless Moisturizer is not as elegant and easy to blend as the Japanese version. However, it's still a great sunscreen that's comparable to a lot of Asian sunscreens on the market. The pricing is reasonable (especially when on sale), so I'm really glad that it is now readily available in Canada. If you are on the market for a lightweight and affordable face sunscreen, I definitely recommend giving this a try!
