Disclaimer: The products featured was provided for review. As I've mentioned, I'm not a big hair person so I'm not super passionate about hair care. Nevertheless, I use a hair dryer regularly, and because I have a lot of hair that takes a long time to dry, it's important for me to have a good one on hand. For the past four years, I've been using the
NuMe Stealth Hair Dryer and while I like its strong motor, I always found it a bit too big and clunky. Therefore, when I saw the release of the new
InfinitiPRO by Conair DigitalAIRE Hair Dryer (C$199.99), a high-performance, salon-quality hairdryer with a fairly compact size and a reasonable price point, I was very excited. To read about what's special with this hair dryer, click......

The Design:With a sleek metallic blue finish and rose gold accents, the InfinitiPRO by Conair DigitalAIRE Hair Dryer has a fairly compact size that's easy to maneuver and store. The device is definitely not travel-sized by any means but it's smaller than your typical, full-sized hair dryer. The DigitalAIRE Hair Dryer is also lighter than what I'm used to, making it even easier to handle. The actual material of the dryer feels very high quality, giving it a more luxurious vibe. To me, Conair seems to be targeting consumers who want a good hair dryer but don't want to shell out for the
Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer. However, I did notice that the rose gold accents, particularly around the base of the handle, are not well applied. Within just a couple of days, it started to chip (see right lower corner of the image below).

There are a total of four buttons on the device. One for power, one for speed (three settings), one for temperature (three settings), and one for the cool shot feature. The placement of the speed and temperature buttons is actually quite problematic. As you will notice on most other dryers, these two buttons are usually placed on the "front" or "back" of the handle (where the cool shot and the power buttons are located on the DigitalAIRE). However, on this DigitalAIRE, they are placed on the side of the handle, smack dab where one would grip the handle. As a result, I would inadvertently press the buttons, changing the temperature or speed from my intended setting. To me, this is actually a pretty big design flaw and I'm surprised it made it to production. However, I think that with time, I can get used to it by gripping the dryer in a slightly different way. Lastly, the DigitalAIRE has a fine mesh filter at the back and it comes with a small brush for cleaning.

The Technology:The InfinitiPRO by Conair DigitalAIRE Hair Dryer boasts an ultra-fast motor that spins up to 90,000 times per minute. This definitely translates to an exceptionally strong speed. It's not as strong as the Dyson, which spins up to 110,000 times per minute but it is more than adequate in my opinion, especially at its price point. The DigitalAIRE also features a uniquely shaped ceramic-coated grill that has a significantly larger surface area, minimizing hot spots that cause hair damage. Like most other dryers, the DigitalAIRE offers an internal ionic generator that eliminates frizz and the cold shot feature produces an adequately cold gust that locks in style. Included with the dryer are two attachment heads, one concentrator and one diffuser. I never use attachments so they don't really matter to me but I don't like that the attachments need to be inserted into the dryer head. The diffuser attachment, in particular, was very difficult to shove in so I feel that if you are someone who constantly swaps attachments, things will get easily damaged over time.

Overall, despite its flaws, the InfinitiPRO by Conair DigitalAIRE Hair Dryer is one of the best hair dryers I've tried and it's certainly the best offering from Conair. The fast speed and the sleek design put it on part with Dyson, but available at a fraction of the price. If you are someone who's been lusting after a Dyson but can't pull the trigger on a $500 hair dryer, then this is a great alternative. Currently, the DigitalAIRE is on sale at London Drugs for only $150, which is honestly an amazing deal!
Availability:InfinitiPRO by Conair is available in stores and online at London Drugs, Walmart, and Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada. The item will also be available directly online at
