Herbivore | Moon Fruit Retinol Alternative Sleep Mask (C$72 for 50 ml):

Housed in a sleek, flattened glass jar, the Moon Fruit Retinol Alternative Sleep Mask is described as a "skin-smoothing" sleep mask formulated with 1% bakuchiol, a gentle retinol alternative that reduces the looks of lines and wrinkles. With a very light fruity scent, the Moon Fruit Sleep Mask also contains nourishing squalane, shea, hydrating hyaluronic acid, and a plethora of antioxidant-rich superfruit extracts. The sleep mask has a very pretty purple color that disappears once blended and the consistency is that of a lightweight cream. The formulation exhibits a micro-foaming action when massaged onto the skin, which I don't love as it takes more time to blend out. I find the mask a bit greasy when paired with other products so it's best used on bare skin. Although marketed as a sleep mask, this is essentially a nourishing, anti-aging night cream for those that cannot tolerate the drying effects of retinol. Given the generous size, the price is actually not too bad so I would recommend it to those looking for a bakuchiol moisturizer.

Herbivore | Moon Dew 1% Bakuchiol + Peptides Retinol Alternative Eye Cream (C$63 for 15 ml):

Just released this summer, this is a "line-filling eye cream" that promises to "quickly, visibly tightens and smooths the eyes for a lifted appearance". Formulated with line-smoothing bakuchiol, the Moon Dew Eye Cream also contains depuffing quinoa plant peptides and tightening honey locus polysaccharides. The eye cream formulation is much thicker consistency than the sleeping mask but it still blends out nicely on the skin to a lightweight finish that's not at all greasy. The formulation is instantly hydrating and I definitely wake up with more plumpness around the eye area. The Moon Dew 1% Bakuchiol + Peptides Retinol Alternative Eye Cream actually reminds me a lot of the Glow Recipe Avocado Melt Retinol Eye Cream, which to my surprise, I've never actually reviewed (I'll get on that, I promise). I experienced zero irritation so it's safe to say that this is a gentle anti-aging eye cream for most skin types.
