Biossance late last year is the
Squalane + Copper Peptide Rapid Plumping Serum (C$88 for 50 ml). Described as a "powerful hydrating serum that quickly and visibly plumps skin with a complex of clinically demonstrated hydrators and collagen-supporting copper peptides", the serum is a recent addition to my skincare routine as I'm noticing more dryness and fine lines as I am approaching my 30s. So how well does this serum perform? Read my review to find out......
Packaged in a generously sized glass bottle paired with a glass pipette dispenser, the Biossance Squalane + Copper Peptide Rapid Plumping Serum has a runny consistency and a light blue color, thanks to the copper peptide which supports collagen and elastin production. With no discernable scent, the serum also contains a complex of hyaluronic acid, polyglutamic acid, and sugar cane-derived squalane to moisturize the skin. Additionally, paracress flower extract is added for some extra firming effect. The formulation contains no silicones or drying alcohols and spreads easily on the skin with no heavy, greasy residue. The finish feels lightly tightening but not drying, and it pairs well with other moisturizers and serums without pilling or patching.
There are a lot of serums on the market that promise plumping and hydration but I generally find their effect to be minimal as a good moisturizer is what I count on at the end of the day. Therefore, I kind of felt the same with the Squalane + Copper Peptide Rapid Plumping Serum. The thin, light consistency is definitely refreshing but once it absorbs, I don't really feel any difference in my skin. Of course, I know that serums don't work magically within seconds but even with regular use for a couple of weeks, I did not notice any difference in my skin. So there you have it, my two cents on the Biossance Squalane + Copper Peptide Rapid Plumping Serum. If you are looking for a hydrating serum, my recommendations are
Glow Recipe Plum Plump Hyaluronic Serum or the
Charlotte Tilbury Charlotte's Magic Serum Crystal Elixir. Alternatively, Biossance offers a couple of serums that I really enjoy, including the
Squalane + 10% Vitamin C Dark Spot Serum and the
Squalane + Phyto-Retinol Serum.
