Even though I can't remember the last time I've finished a whole tube of lipstick, I'm still happy to see refillable options like the new
Fenty Icon Semi-Matte Refillable Lipstick from
Fenty Beauty, sold separately as

Packaging:As mentioned, the new Fenty Icon Refillable Lipstick is sold as The Case (available in a shiny rose gold and a satin matte black) and The Fill (available in 10 shades). I have here the rose gold case, which features an interesting twist-to-dispense mechanism. To take out the lipstick, you actually have to twist the top of the cap, which triggers the lipstick base to pop right out. To put it back, you simply push the base into the cap, which locks it in place. The design is very sleek and snazzy but it's probably more prone to user error as compared to a more traditional design. I can imagine some people having a hard time with it initially and accidently damaging the bullet tip in the process of figuring out how things work.
Formulation:Currently, the Fenty Icon Semi-Matte Refillable Lipstick has 10 shades of The Fill. I have here 4 of them and they are all incredibly creamy and pigmented. With a soft but noticeable old-school lipstick smell, the formulation feels very rich and nourishing on the lips and while the word "matte" is in its name, the lipstick has more of a natural, satin sheen. In terms of wear, the Fenty Icon formulation fares decently. There's definitely transferring and fading with eating and drinking so touch-ups are required throughout the day.
01 The MVP: This is a stunning bold red with a blue undertone. This is the shade to go with if you want that classic Hollywood glamor.
02 Grill Mast'r: Described as a maple red, this is a warm brick red with an orange tint. It's a great fall color, particularly suitable for those with deeper warmer skin tones.
03 Board Memb'r: This is a super vampy oxblood red. The formulation is slightly patchier than the other shades and there is some minor bleeding. However, this is not unusual for deeper reds like this. I would recommend filling the lips completely with a deep red liner prior to the lipstick application to ensure a full, opaque coverage.
07 Ballin' Babe: Probably my favorite of the bunch, this is a sophisticated dusty rosewood. The color is a touch darker than what I would prefer but it is very on-trend.
