Available in six shades, the
Tinted Love Lip & Cheek Tint ($39 for 10 ml) is formulated with vitamin E and hyaluronic acid, promising a nourishing, long lasting color. To read my review of the formulation, click......
Packaging:The Tinted Love Lip & Cheek Tint from Charlotte Tilbury comes in a large lipgloss tube paried with a tapered doe-foot applicator. The packaging doesn't feel as luxurious as some of the other items from Charlotte Tilbury but it does have a more cutesy vibe, which is refreshing to see.
Formulation:With a lightweight, gel-like formulation, Charlotte Tilbury's Tinted Love is a water-based multi-purpose tint that can be used for the lips and the cheeks. The formulation has a sweet vanilla scent and it spreads easily during application. However, the color clings onto dry patches and and the inner rim of the lips, resulting in a slightly splotchy look for both the lips and cheeks. If left unblotted, the tint has a soft, natural shine. However, the shine easily fades and can look uneven unless applied very carefully. Therefore, when I use the product as a lip stain, I like to blot off the shine for a more even, low-maintenance finish. It's important to note that although Tinted Love is described as a tint, it's actually not very long-lasting. There is noticeable fading with moderate eating and drinking and the tint fades unevenly, leaving a noticeable ring of color on the inner and outer rim of the lips.
Petal Pink: Contrary to what its baby pink packaging implies, this is a soft petal rose with a slight brown undertone. The color is surprisingly flattering and sophisticated.
Bohemian Kiss: A fall-friendly shade, this is a soft apricot red with hint of brown.
Tripping On Love: This is a sophisticated muted dark red with a brown undertone.
Love Chain: Last but not least is this classic medium red. The color is brighter than it appears in my swatches as this was the last shade I swatched and my lips were already quite dark from Tripping On Love.
Overall, I'm not a fan of this product. The tint can look really good but it's quite high maintenance, requiring lots of prep and touch-ups to prevent it from looking patchy. Ironically, this is not the first time I've seen a tint like this. Many other brands have released similar products (ex.
Dior Addict Lip Tattoo,
Buxom Serial Kisser Plumping Lip Stain,
NYC Smooch Proof Liquid Lip Stain) over the years and they've all been duds for me. Personally, I much more prefer a straight up liquid stain like the
Clarins Water Lip Stain or a glossy lip tint like the iconic
YSL Glossy Stain, both of which fade more gracefully and provide a longer wear time.
