Bite Beauty has been working hard over the past year on expanding its product range with exciting clean makeup. Recently, the brand launched its first mascara! Formulated without a whole slew of toxic or sensitizing ingredients, the
Upswing Full Volume Mascara (C$37 for 12 ml) is a "clean, volumizing, flake-resistant mascara that delivers major lift, length, and curl for supersized lashes". So how well does this mascara stand to its claims? Read my review and see some before and after swatches to find out......
Packaging:The Bite Beauty Upswing Full Volume Mascara comes in a sleek gold tube with a reflective chrome finish. The mascara wand has an hourglass shape and it is rather large, which makes it tricky to capture shorter lashes. Additionally, the tip of the wand is not tapered so excessive mascara collects around it, requiring me to wipe it off after every dip back into the tube. Personally, I am not a fan of the applicator as it's simply too clumsy and oversized for my small lashes.
Certified "clean" at Sephora, the Upswing Full Volume Mascara is formulated with tree berry wax, which promises "buildable yet lightweight volume". The mascara has a fairly lightweight formulation that's lengthening and volumizing. However, I definitely noticed some clumping so I needed a clean spoolie to separate my lashes after application. The formulation is flake-resistant but not water-resistant so it will remove easily with a regular face wash. Overall, this is a decent mascara. Aside from the large mascara wand, I don't really feel that it's super innovative or special. If you already have nice full lashes, I'm sure this mascara will perform well. However, if you have rather wispy and small lashes like I do, there are better mascaras on the market that will provide more length, volume, and definition.
