Omorovicza is a luxury Hungarian skincare brand that was introduced to me quite a few years ago and I've loved pretty much every product I've tried from them. Recently, I was browsing the Omorovicza website and came across a very intriguing nine-day, three-phase skincare treatment designed to "renew and reset tired, stressed skin". Containing nine glass ampoules filled with potent active ingredients such as AHAs, caffeine, ginseng, fig, and chia seed oil, The Cure (C$366 for 9 x 2 ml) promises to deliver "immediate, visible result". Packaging:

The Cure from Omorovicza comes in a beautiful and elegant gift box that opens to reveal a set of simple directions of use and nine glass ampoules, three of each from the three phases of the program. The glass ampoule packaging keeps the product completely sealed before use, which is great for protecting the ingredients from oxidation and bacteria. However, the ampoules snap open in a way that leaves behind jagged edges, with a small risk of tiny glass shards breaking off as well, making them quite cumbersome in practice. This especially posed an issue with the thicker consistency of the Phase 2 Renew & Revive formulation as the serum wouldn't freely flow out of the ampoule. So I had to very vigorously tap the bottom of the ampoule for a long tiem to get all the product out as I was unable to tap the ampoule opening against my palm due to the sharp edges.

Another issue I ran into with the packaging is that each ampoule contained way too much product! 2 ml doesn't sound like a lot but it actually is quite a bit for a single-use. This is especially the case with the Phase 1 and Phase 3 formulation. I ended up splitting those ampoules into two or more uses. This probably disrupted the intended progression of the 9-Day Skin Reset Program but I don't think it made a big difference in the long run.

Formulation:

Phase 1 (Day 1-3) | Resurface & Brighten:

Designed to smooth the skin by removing dead skin cells with two kinds of AHAs (glycolic acid and mandelic acid), this is a very potent chemical peel. The formulation has a clear, watery consistency so it spreads very easily without leaving behind any residue. I use AHAs on a daily basis so I have developed some tolerance but nevertheless, this stuff felt pretty strong! For the first day, I foolishly used the entire ampoule which was probably way too much because my skin felt quite stingy. Therefore, I recommend using only a part of the ampoule, especially if you are new to AHAs. With that said, this stuff did an amazing job at smoothing my skin. My face never felt so silky and soft!

Phase 2 (Day 4-6) | Renew & Revive:

Formulated with caffeine, ginseng, and the famed Hungarian thermal water rich in minerals, this phase is designed to "promote a tighter, brighter, and younger-looking complexion". With a more conventional serum texture that's slightly viscous, Phase 2 absorbs nicely onto the skin, providing some instant light hydration. As compared to Phase 1, Phase 2 did not have as drastic of an effect. I think my skin definitely woke up looking healthier and more radiant, but not significantly more so than usual.

Ingredients: Aqua (Hungarian Thermal Water), Saccharomyces (Hungarian Thermal Water) Ferment Extract, Glycerin, Ethyl Ximeninate, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Caffeine, Cyclodextrin, Phospholipids, Lecithin, Carbomer, Sodium Hydroxide, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Gynostemma Pentaphyllum Extract

Phase 3 (Day 7-9) | Reconstruct & Replenish:

Last but not least is the Reconstruct & Replenish Phase 3, designed to "boost skin's lipid content" and "protect against oxidative stress". Made with precious chia seed oil, kahai nut oil, fig seed oil, and squalane, this phase has a rich oil consistency. With facial oils, a little goes a long, long way so I only needed a few drops from the ampoule to cover my entire face. However, each ampoule had enough product to last me days so the fact that the three ampoules are intended for three days of use is quite absurd. Logistics aside, the oil blend is very lovely. It has a subtle but beautiful fragrance and it feels instantly nourishing on the skin. There's definitely a bit of a greasy residue but those with dry skin will really feel replenished.

Overall, I really enjoyed The Cure. The Phase 1 peel worked like magic but I don't think I saw drastic changes with Phase 2 or 3. I really appreciate the clean and high-quality ingredients but the price tag is hard to swallow, especially paired with the fact that the program contained way more product than is necessary but the glass ampoules aren't resealable. I personally would love to see a smaller version of this set, perhaps with just three ampoules, one of each phase. This would allow for a more accomodating price range and just the right amount of product for a mini skin reboot.
