Packaging:
The Shiseido LipLiner InkDuo features a dual-ended design that's twist-up and retractable. On one end you have a lip liner and on the other a lip primer. The lip liner is quite thick so it's not the best for drawing very fine lines but it does it make it easier to fill in the entire lips if that's how you decide on using it.

Shame on me for not reading the product instructions carefully because I initially thought this was a lip crayon/lip balm duo. However, the LipLiner InkDuo is a lip primer/lip liner duo. To use, prime the lips with the clear primer, which has a fairly "dry" balm texture that helps the lip liner glide more smoothly. It's lightly hydrating but not super nourishing. The lip liner is pigmented but depending on the shade, the formulation can be slightly dry. This certainly isn't a bad thing as overly creamy lip liners tend to smudge or feather more easily. The primer definitely helps the liner apply more smoothly but I do feel that it compromises longevity so for all-day wear, it's best to apply the lip liner directly onto the lips. It's worth noting that although lip liner is not completely transfer- or smudge-proof, it will last through moderate eating and drinking. For the swatches below, I used the lip liner all over the lips to better demonstrate the color.
04 Rosewood: The creamiest of the bunch, Rosewood is a beautiful warm rosy pink.
06 Magenta: The driest of the bunch, Magenta is a super bright, almost neon pink. It works fine as a liner but if you were to fill out the entire lips, it can be quite drying.
07 Poppy: Despite its name, Poppy is actually pretty close to a true red. The formulation is decently creamy but not overly so.
08 True Red: A rich true red, this shade is pretty much identical to Poppy, but just a touch deeper.
