Thankfully though, Clarins sent over their Summer 2020 Sunkissed Collection recently so I wanted to share with you some reviews and swatches of the new products. To read on, click......

A limited-edition shade introduced for Summer 2020 (along with "09 Amber Pearls"), the SOS Primer in "
08 Rosy Gold Pearls" is a creamy, lightweight primer packed with opalescent soft gold shimmers. The formulation contains titanium dioxide (as the fourth ingredient) but the primer is not advertised to have any SPF properties. The product can be used alone, under makeup, mixed with foundation, or even on top of makeup as a soft highlighter. It's customary for Clarins to release a limited edition powder bronzer each summer and this year is no different. The Bronzing Compact in "
001 Sunset Glow" (the only shade available) comes in a beautiful round translucent tortoiseshell-like compact. Both the lid and the powder are adorned with a bold pattern reminiscent of Portuguese ceramic tiles.
With a creamy soft consistency, the bronzer is divided into three shades: a light beige tan, a soft neutral tan, and a light bronze. The powder is fairly pigmented but easy to blend so a little goes a long, long way. The formulation is shimmer-free and it has just a soft hint of floral fragrance.

Clarins Summer 2020 | Suncare Collection:
Although not technically a part of the Summer 2020 Collection, the Clarins suncare lineup was revamped recently with a new formulation and packaging. The range includes six products: Dry Touch Facial Sunscreen SPF 30, Dry Touch Facial Sunscreen SPF 50+, Suncreen Body Cream SPF 30, Suncreen Body Lotion Spray SPF 50+, Refreshing After Sun Gel, and Soothing After Sun Balm. As far as I can see, all the sunscreens are formulated with chemical UV filters such as avobenzone and homosalate. Given the current circumstances, I've not been outdoors much this summer so I've not had a chance to test out these products but nevertheless, I thought I'd still share them with you in case you are in the market for new suncare products.

Clarins Summer 2020 | Lip Twist Duo Water Tint & Balm (C$28 for 3ml and 1.4 g):
Available in three shades, this is a fun twist on the Clarins Water Lip Stain (reviewed
here) released a couple summers ago. Packaged in a chubby marker format, the Lip Twist Duo Water Tint & Balm has a felt-tipped applicator on one end and a solid balm on the other. Because the lip balm side is not twist-up or retractable, do be careful when removing and replacing the cap to avoid damaging the balm.

Despite the similarity in their names, the new Clarins Twist Duo Water Tint & Balm and the original Clarins Water Lip Stain do not share the same formulation. With a more concentrated color, the Clarins Twist Duo Water Tint & Balm is quite intense. The liquid formulation also sets very quickly, which coupled with the precise felt tip applicator, requires a speedy application to avoid patchiness. I found it a bit tricky to evenly apply the product, which meant that I had to go over things quite a few times, resulting in a very intense stain. So if you prefer just a wash of color, the Twist Duo Water Tint & Balm is not for you. Additionally, the formulation stains the inner rim of my lips much more than it does the rest of the lips, resulting in a bit of an odd effect. I actually had to go in with a wet Q-tip to remove the excess stain to even things out.

"
01 Red Sunset" is a true red lip stain paired with a transparent balm packed with iridescent golden shimmers. The red here is deeper and richer red compared to the
Clarins Water Lip Stain in "03 Red Water". Without the balm, the stain provides a very classic red lipstick look. With the balm, however, things change drastically. The warm golden shimmers completely transform the red, giving the lips an opulent shine. I personally find the effect the balm provides a bit too theatrical; I can only imagine wearing it to very specific functions or events (ex. Christmas party). In terms of wear, the Lip Twist Duo Water Tint & Balm fares just okay. Even with the balm, the stain is not transfer-proof but it is smudge-proof. The formulation is water-soluble so the color will fade off with eating and drinking.
