Known for his superstitious nature, Christian Dior adored the lucky star symbol. Stories say that the idea for his fashion house was conceived after the designer tripped over a star on the sidewalk. Today, the lucky star symbol can be found in many of the brand's fashion and beauty and it was recently incorporated into the Dior Addict Stellar Shine, creating the Dior Addict Stellar Halo Shine Lipstick (C$49 for 3.2 g). Promising a lightweight and shiny finish, the lipstick has a shimmer-packed star core that gives the sheer lip color a luminous, radiant shine. I have reviews and swatches to share with you today. Packaging:
With a sleek double-layered cap and the classic knob design, the Dior Addict Stellar Halo Shine has the same packaging as that of the Dior Addict Stellar Shine (reviewed here). The cap gives off a prismatic sheen under certain lighting and the Dior logo is etched and embossed in soft pink chrome.
Instead of a classic "CD" etching at the tip of the bullet, the Stellar Halo Shine has a shimmering star-shaped core that's packed with iridescent shimmers. The design muddles after first use but because the core runs the length of the bullet, each application provides the same iridescent finish.
Formulation:
Promising a more luminous and radiant finish, the Dior Addict Halo Shine is a shimmery version of the original Dior Addict Shine released last year. With a super slick and lightweight formulation, the lipstick provides a sheer coverage scattered with iridescent pink/lavender shimmers. I'm generally not a fan of shimmery lip products but the finish of the Stellar Halo Shine isn't actually that flashy or glittery. It's only when the lip color begins to wear off that the remaining shimmers stand out. As expected, the lipsticks feel super nourishing and hydrating but the wear is lackluster. After eating and drinking, most of the color will fade so touch-ups are required after each meal. A total of 15 shades are available currently and I have swatched 9 of them below.
384 Cherish Star: This is a soft pink nude. The color is not too pale so it doesn't completely wash me out. There's a bit of settling but I am pleasantly surprised at how flattering it is.
482 Dream Star: A cool-tone princess pink, Dream Star is fresh and pretty, perfect for the springtime!
563 Adored Star: This is a bright petal pink. The shade is fairly similar to the previous color but with a warmer undertone.
630 Treasure Star: Appearing as a dull beige brown in the tube, Treasure Star is actually a very flattering soft flesh nude.
645 Hope Star: This is a very pretty warm raspberry pink with a pigmented formulation.
667 Pink Star: A fresh warm pink, this shade is more muted as compared to the other lighter pinks (Dream Star and Adored Star).
740 Happy Star: This is a muted papaya orange. I'm usually not a fan of orange lip colors but this one is very lovely!
847 Passion Star: A deeper and redder version of Happy Star, this is a bright brick red.
892 Daring Star: My favorite out of the bunch, Daring Star is a rich rosewood.
Overall, this is a fun update on the Dior Addict Stellar Shine range. If you love a hydrating sheer lip color with an iridescent shine, then you will love the Stellar Halo Shine. For those that usually steer clear of shimmers, this range is still worth checking out as the sparkles are rather subtle and the color selection is just wonderful for the spring and summertime!
