Known for its well-formulated lip products,
Bite Beauty revamped itself earlier this year with the introduction of a brand new complexion lineup. Offering a primer, a foundation, and a powder, the
Changemaker Collection promises clean ingredients with high performance. I've been testing out the products for a while now and finally feel ready to share with you my thoughts. To read my reviews and see some swatches, click......
Bite Beauty | Changemaker Skin-Optimizing Primer (C$50 for 30 ml):
Available in two formulations (one for normal to dry skin and one for normal to oily skin), the Changemaker Skin-Optimizing Primer is a high-performance primer designed to neutralize skin concerns to provide a grippy canvas for foundation application. I have here the hydrating version designed for normal to dry skin and it's formulated with olive oil, hyaluronic acid, and maqui berry extract rich in antioxidants. Even though I have oily, combination skin, I loathe silicones (which is the second ingredient in the mattifying version). Therefore, I actually quite like this version of the primer as it's not as silicone-heavy.
The hydrating and refreshing cream-like formulation applies easily on the skin and provides a smooth but grippy base without adding extra shine or grease to the skin. It helps foundation apply more evenly and decreases creasing and settling. Out of all three products, this is definitely my favorite!
Ingredients: Aqua/Water/Eau, Propanediol Dicaprylate, Propanediol, Triolein, Ceteareth-6 Olivate, Lactobacillus Ferment, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Dimethicone, Glyceryl Dioleate, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6, Hydrogenated Olive Oil, Cellulose Gum, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Polysilicone-11, Glycerin, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Pectin, Xanthan Gum, Pentylene Glycol, Silica, Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil Unsaponifiables, Lecithin, Citric Acid, Fructose, Sodium Hydroxide, Urea, Maltose, Tocopherol, Allantoin, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Lactate, Sodium Pca, Trehalose, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Decyl Glucoside, Agave Tequilana Leaf Extract, Aristotelia Chilensis Fruit Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Sodium Hyaluronate, Glucose, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Hexylene Glycol, Hydrolyzed Glycosaminoglycans, Benzyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hyaluronic Acid, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Raspberry Ketone.
Bite Beauty | Changemaker Supercharged Micellar Foundation (C$52 for 30 ml):
Described as a long-wearing foundation that employs a micellar technology that "mimics skin texture for a smooth, non-cakey" finish, the Changemaker Supercharged Micellar Foundation provides a medium, buildable coverage. The formulation is lightweight and easy to blend and sets to a natural matte finish. The foundation is fairly blurring but the finish isn't as smoothing as I would like. There's minor clinging and settling around the nose and unless applied with a really good brush or sponge, the finish can be streaky (check out my fingerprints where I padded on some extra foundation). Although not super high on the ingredient list, the polymethylsilsesquioxane and dimethicone in the formulation give the foundation a distinct silicone feel which I don't care for.
The range is available in 32 shades. "
L15" is described as a pale ivory with a neutral undertone and "
L20" is a pale ivory with yellow undertones. In terms of wear, the Changemaker Supercharged Micellar Foundation is pretty lackluster. Even when set with a powder, there's noticeable fading within four to six hours. There's some shine in the T-zone but no drastic creasing or settling. Therefore, I think the foundation may be more compatible with normal to dry skin.
Ingredients: Aqua/Water/Eau, C13-15 Alkane, Propanediol, Isododecane, Polyglyceryl-6 Polyricinoleate, Mica, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Dimethicone, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Stearoxymethicone/ Dimethicone Copolymer, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Polyglyceryl10 Dioleate, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Sucrose Polystearate, Sucrose Stearate, Glyceryl Caprylate, C24-28 Alkyl Methicone, Propylene Carbonate, Parfum/Fragrance, Glyceryl Undecylenate, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Hydroxide, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Maltose, Agave Tequilana Leaf Extract, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Aristotelia Chilensis (Maqui Berry) Fruit Extract, Hexyl Cinnamal, Linalool, Limonene. Bite Beauty | Changemaker Flexible Coverage Pressed Powder (C$48 for 7.5 g):
Available in eight shades, the Changemaker Flexible Coverage Pressed Powder is a talc-free setting powder formulated with blurring volcanic minerals and antioxidant-rich maqui berry extract. Housed in a sleek nude round compact paired with a flocked sponge applicator, the powder has a silky formulation that's instantly mattifying and blurring. The pigmentation is fairly sheer so it's more a setting powder than a powder foundation.
"
Light 1" is a pale porcelain with a subtle cool undertone and "
Light 2" is a pale ivory with a yellow undertone. The powder applies nicely over bare skin and most foundations but I did find that it gets a bit clingy over the Changemaker Supercharged Micellar Foundation. Therefore, I had to apply it sparingly to avoid caking. At almost C$50, the Changemaker Flexible Coverage Pressed Powder is just average in my opinion. However, if a talc-free formulation is important to you, then this one is still worth checking out.
