Known for their iconic Soy Face Cleanser (reviewed here), Fresh is expanding its cleanser lineup with the new Sugar Strawberry Exfoliating Face Wash (C$20 for 50 ml or C$42 for 125 ml). Made with a glycerin base, this is a gentle exfoliating cleanser packed with white sugar crystals (you can't see them in the photo below but trust me, they are in there), strawberry extract, black currant extract, and grapeseed oil. With a slightly viscous consistency, the Sugar Strawberry Exfoliating Face Wash spreads easily on the skin and feels warm when first applied. Although there's a good amount of sugar crystals in the formulation, they start to melt upon contact so the cleanser is only lightly exfoliating. And because the formulation is sulfate-free, it won't really lather or foam. Therefore, I would not recommend using this for makeup removal.

The Sugar Strawberry Exfoliating Face Wash actually reminds me quite a bit of the Fresh Sugar Face Polish Exfoliator (reviewed here) but it's definitely a more affordable alternative that functions more like a cleanser than a mask. I'm a little bummed that Fresh didn't infuse a stronger strawberry scent to the formulation but the natural fruity smell is still very pleasant. It's worth noting that the face wash does leave behind a bit of a slippery residue. It's not greasy or unpleasant but for those that prefer a squeaky clean feel, this cleanser is probably not a good fit. Overall, I enjoy the Sugar Strawberry Exfoliating Face Wash but I wouldn't recommend it to everyone. If you are someone who rarely wears makeup and prefers a non-foaming cleanser with a gentle scrubbing action, then definitely give this a try!
