An all-time bestseller from Make Up For Ever, the Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation ($55 CAD for 30 ml) is a medium coverage liquid foundation designed to provide a "blurred, second-skin finish". Reformulated in 2015 and expanded with 10 new shades this fall, the Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation is now available in a total of 50 shades! I had originally tried the foundation back in 2015 (read my review here) but didn't love the non-smoothing consistency that accentuated pores and textures. When I got the press release about the recent shade extension, I initially thought that it was a brand new foundation so I tested it out not knowing that I had actually tried it before. Interestingly, though, my experience was quite different this time around (for reasons I will try to speculate) so I thought I'd share a new review for the foundation. To read on, click......
Packaging:
The Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Coverage Foundation comes in a clear plastic bottle paired with a convenient pump dispenser. The packaging looks almost identical to that of the 2015 version with a very minor exception. While the silver rim of the 2015 packaging had a brushed metal finish, the 2019 version has a smooth semi-matte finish.
Formulation:
Formulated with hydrating hyaluronic spheres, blurring silica powder, and smoothing sericite mica, the Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation is a fairly sheer liquid foundation with a thin, lightweight consistency. The pigmentation is buildable but the coverage is medium at best so a concealer or powder foundation is needed if you are looking for a flawless complexion. When I first tried this foundation back in 2015, my main issue was that the foundation did not sit well around my nose and cheeks where there are lots of enlarged pores. Instead of providing a blurring effect, the foundation settled and highlighted all my imperfections, which you can see in the swatches here.
Interestingly, when I tried the foundation again not too long ago, this was not an issue. I suspect that minor formulation adjustments took place sometimes after the 2015 reformulation as this new bottle of Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation applied much better. The pigments fused better with my skin without settling or creasing around textures and drier areas. The finish has a satin matte finish and while the coverage is light, it still provides a really nice, natural camouflage comparable to that of a tinted moisturizer.

In terms of wear, the Ultra HD Invisible Cover performs nicely. There is some fading throughout the day but I didn't notice any significant creasing or patching. The wear is hydrating without being super dewy or greasy so it worked nicely with my oily-combination skin. I have here the shade "215 Yellow Alabaster", a very light ivory with subtle warm undertones. Unfortunately, I don't actually know which are the 10 new shades but rest assured that with a total of 50 to choose from, you will no doubt find one that matches you perfectly. In conclusion, I'm now a fan of the Ultra HD Invisible Cover! I would highly recommend it to those looking for a light coverage liquid foundation that provides a natural, skin-like finish.
