A Korean beauty innovation that was once limited to the affordable drugstore and mid-range market, the cushion foundation is now offered by virtually all the major luxury beauty companies. Naturally, Shiseido's premier brand Clé de Peau has its own take on the cushion foundation. To read all about the silky and dewy Radiant Cushion Foundation ($128 CAD), click......
Packaging:
The Radiant Cushion Foundation comes in a standard cushion compact with a black navy and pale gold design. The top compartment holds the cushion applicator while the bottom houses the foundation-soaked sponge. Generally, cushion foundations from mid-range and luxury brands contain 15 ml/g of product in addition to a 15 ml/g refill. However, the Clé de Peau Beauté Radiant Cushion Foundation has only 12 g of product and no refill, making it the most expensive cushion foundation I've tried at $10.67 per g/ml. For comparison, the La Prairie Skin Caviar Cushion Foundation costs $8.50 per g/ml. However, La Prairie is priced much higher at $225 for 30 ml. It may be possible then, that Clé de Peau wanted to keep the unit price ($128) down by not including a refill.
Formulation:
Available in 6 shades, the Radiant Cushion Foundation is a sheer to medium hydrating foundation. Clé de Peau doesn't boast any specific ingredients but a few noteworthy ones include vitamin E, hyaluronic acid, rose extract, and silk protein. Interestingly, even though titanium dioxide is pretty high on the list, no SPF protection is mentioned anywhere on the packaging or online. Cushion foundations tend to have a pretty dewy finish but the Radiant Cushion Foundation from Clé de Peau is seriously dewy. With a fairly sheer and lightweight formulation, the foundation adds a noticeable sheen to the face. Even with powder, the finish will become very dewy after a couple hours of wear.
Availability:
Clé de Peau is available in Canada at Holt Renfrew, Nordstrom, and Saks.

As someone with oily, combination skin that constantly struggles with unwanted shine, this is an issue. While it may provide a natural and healthy glow for those with normal to dry skin, the Radiant Cushion Foundation simply makes me look oily. While there is no drastic creasing or patching as is commonly a problem with overly dewy foundations, this is some minor fading. With that said, the formulation is extremely hydrating and comfortable. Even at the end of the day, my skin felt fresh and plump.
I have here the shade "B10", the second lightest shade. It is a pale ivory with a subtle cool undertone. It's a pretty good match for my skin and I did not notice any significant oxidation throughout the day. Overall, this is not the foundation for my skin type. Although the natural sheer coverage is great for everyday wear, the finish is just too dewy. However, I would definitely recommend this for those with dry to normal skin that want a hydrating, glowy foundation because the silky, lightweight formulation is definitely superior to most cushion foundations I've tried.
