A while back I discovered Volition Beauty and its innovative crowdsourcing product development strategy. The brand's Strawberry-C Brightening Serum became a quick favorite of mine and I recently started using its new moisturizer called the Celery Green Cream with Hyaluronic Acid + Peptides ($74 CAD for 50 ml). Housed in a sturdy glass jar topped with a sleek rose gold lid, the Celery Green Cream contains celery seed extract, which reportedly helps smooth and blur pores. The added hyaluronic acid attracts moisture while the two forms of peptides minimize the appearance of wrinkles. Additionally, the formulation contains extracts of green tea, cucumber, soybean, apple, raspberry, sage, lavender, and lactic acid. The moisturizer has a refreshing and natural cucumber scent and the texture is lightweight and gel-like. The formulation is alcohol- and silicone-free as far as I can tell and it feels instantly soothing and hydrating on the skin. Although the moisturizer is intended for oily skin, the finish is a touch dewy. However, the finish does provide a smooth and slightly tacky base for makeup application so a little powder will take care of any unwanted shine.
Overall, this is an intensely hydrating oil-free moisturizer that I would recommend for normal to oily skin. The scent and texture are super refreshing and the formulation is loaded with clean, skin-loving ingredients!
