With a shifting trend of skincare products that highlight a single, key ingredient (ex. vitamin C, retinol, glycolic acid), Rodial has released a range of highly concentrated booster drops designed to "supercharge your skincare regimen". Containing 10% glycolic acid, 10% retinol, or 30% collagen, these liquid serums can be used alone or mixed with other products to obtain noticeable results. Rodial | Glycolic Drops ($89 CAD for 31 ml):
Housed in a frosted glass bottle with a convenient dropper dispenser, the Glycolic Drops is an exfoliating booster formulated with 10% glycolic acid (an AHA) in addition to extracts of bilberry, sugar cane, orange, and sugar maple. The booster base is enriched with babassu oil and almond oil and it has a runny, liquid texture. Interestingly, the formulation doesn't spread easily as it has a very quick "dry-down" so it's tricky to cover the whole face with just a few drops. Therefore, I find it best to mix the Glycolic Drops with another serum to ensure an even application. I use AHAs regularly in my skincare so I didn't experience any tingling or stinging but if you are new to AHAs, limit using the Glycolic Drops to only one to two times a week to decrease the likelihood of drying or peeling. The formulation definitely smoothes and brightens over time and I like that it's moisturizing without being greasy.

With 10% retinol, this is an anti-aging booster drop designed to increase skin cell turnover, reducing lines and wrinkles for a more even skin tone. The water-based formulation also contains babassu oil, olive oil, and almond oil to hydrate and counteract the potential side effects of drying and flaking. Similar to the Glycolic Drops, the Retinol Drops has a very quick "dry-down" and therefore does not spread very well, making it difficult to use only two to three drops as recommended. I personally like to blend it with a serum or moisturizer to ensure an even application. I've only been using this once a week due to fear of sensitization (especially since I use a lot of AHAs/BHAs). However, after each use, I've noticed a smoother, more even complexion. The only other retinol product I've tried is the Drunk Elephant A-Passioni Retinol Cream and although I like that one quite a bit, I prefer the liquid formulation of the Rodial Retinol Drops, which is easier to incorporate with the other steps in my skincare routine.

Formulated in a water/oil base similar to the other two drops, this is a 30% collagen booster designed to boost skin elasticity and reduce the appearance lines and wrinkles. Unlike the other two drops, the formulation separates a bit so a good shake is needed to mix things up. Although hydrating (thanks to the added hyaluronic acid), the Collagen Drops doesn't feel as potent as the other two drops. I didn't notice a significant difference in my overall complexion so this is not my favorite of the three considering that they all cost the same.

With a light floral fragrance, the Soft Focus Glow Drop is a liquid primer designed to smooth and prep the skin for a glowy makeup application. The product looks quite intense and shimmery when first dispensed but it actually is only lightly scattered with a fine pinch of pink sparkles that are barely noticeable when blended onto the skin. The runny, lightweight texture blends easily and feels super hydrating. Unlike traditional silicone-based primers, the Soft Focus Glow Drops feels more like a lightweight serum. It's perfect for those looking for an extra boost of hydration and dewiness without adding texture but I don't think it prolongs makeup wear if that's your main goal.
