For Summer 2019, Lise Watier has partnered with Fashion Magazine to release three unique face palettes designed to create some fun, editorial makeup looks. With three different color schemes, the Watier x Fashion Magazine Palettes ($59 CAD for 17 g each) includes eyeshadows, cheek colors, and lip colors for the complete look. Packaging:
Available separately ($59 CAD each) or together as a Collector's Set ($150 CAD), the Watier x Fashion Palettes are housed in a cardboard palette. Each palette has four eyeshadows, one highlighter, one blush, and two lip colors. Also included are a large mirror and detailed instructions for recreating the cover looks using the products inside.
For almost $60 per palette, I expected fancier packaging as cardboard is prone to wear and tear. Lise Watier has been putting out sturdy plastic palettes for a while now so it's a bit disappointing to see them go back to cardboard. Although the cardboard style suits the magazine aesthetic, the quality just doesn't stand up to the test of time.
Watier x Fashion | Winds of Liberty Palette ($59 CAD for 17 g):
Featuring lots of pinks and plum, the Winds of Liberty Palette has some very well-formulated powder products. The mattes are silky and non-patchy while the shimmers are creamy and pigmented. I'm not a fan of lip products in pans due to the need to use a lip brush for application, so the two lip colors don't really appeal to me. However, it's good to know that the formulations are identical to that of the Lise Watier Rouge Fondant and Rouge Intense Lipsticks.
Zephyr: Satin pale ivory.
Storm: Shimmery violet gray.
Fan: Sheer orchid pink with a satin finish.
Tornado: Plummy taupe shimmer.
Chloe (Rouge Fondant Suprême): Sheer muted lavender plum lip color.
Brooklyn (Rouge Intense Suprême): Rich berry pink lip color.
Freedom: Matte dusty pink blush.
Breeze: Cool pearly pink highlighter.
Watier x Fashion | Soul on Fire Palette ($59 CAD for 17 g):
With a very warm color scheme, Soul on Fire is made for fans of orange and gold. All the powder products, including the mattes, are pigmented and easy to work with. The lip colors, however, are a bit lackluster due to their sheer formulation.
Solstice: Ivory beige matte with a hint of peach.
Sultry: Light creamy gold shimmer.
Flame: Rich burnt cooper orange shimmer.
Volcano: Matte chocolate brown.
Jennifer (Rouge Fondant Suprême): Very sheer dusty rose lip color.
Daphne (Rouge Intense Suprême): Sheer medium brown lip color.
Passion: Fresh papaya peach matte blush.
Solaris: Creamy gold champagne highlighter.
Watier x Fashion | Go with the Flow ($59 CAD for 17 g):
With a focus on pinks and blues, the Go with the Flow Palette is undoubtly the most colorful out of the three. I'm not a fan of the look featured on the cover but the colors definitely work for a lovely spring or summer look. As is with the other two palettes, the powder formulation is just top-notch!
Calypso: Matte ivory pink.
Typhoon: Icy seafoam green with a pale golden sheen.
Aquaria: Stunning aqua teal shimmer.
Deep Sea: Shimmery neutral khaki green.
Meghan (Rouge Fondant Suprême): Sheer medium pink lip color.
Olivia (Rouge Intense Suprême): Semi-sheer berry pink lip color.
Confidence: Matte petal pink blush.
Rain: Pearly pink champagne highlighter.
Overall, I think these are some fun and colorful palettes from Lise Watier. The powder formulation is fabulous but I'm not completely sold on the cardboard packaging (especially given the price) and the inclusion of panned lip products.
