New from Charlotte Tilbury comes a lipstick collection created in collaboration or inspired by some of the hottest stars in fashion, music, and entertainment. With 11 shades, the Hot Lips 2 Lipstick ($43 CAD for 3.5 g) features antioxidant-rich lipstick tree extract and three-dimensional pigments that give the lips a plumped, hydrated appearance. I have three shades to share with you today. To see some swatches and read my review of the formulation, click......
Packaging:
The Hot Lips 2 Lipsticks are housed in a luxurious rose gold case printed with one of five eye-catching designs. Each lipstick is refillable and all eleven shades are offered as refills ($29 CAD). Unfortunately, when you buy the lipstick, you cannot customize which case comes with which shade. However, you always have the option of buying multiples and swapping between the different cases and shades.
Formulation:
The Hot Lips 2 Collection features 11 shades inspired by some of Charlotte's dearest friends and muses. According to the product description, the satin shades feature the K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick formulation (reviewed here) while the matte shades feature the Matte Revolution Lipstick formulation (reviewed here). Despite that, the Hot Lips 2 formulation isn't quite identical to their predecessors so I have reviewed them individually below.
Dancefloor Princess: Inspired by pop princess Kylie Minogue, this is a light pink nude with the subtlest hint of warmth. The formulation has a pearly sheen and the finish is quite shiny. I'm generally not a fan of light pinks but Dancefloor Princess is surprisingly wearable. The color isn't as cool or pale as I'd expected so it didn't completely wash me out. With that said, the pigmentation is a touch weak as compared to other K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipsticks I've tried so I really had to layer quite a bit to obtain an even coverage.
Carina's Star: An homage to Hong Kong actress Carina Lau, Carina's Star is a unique smoky peach. I personally find it very hard to pull off peaches and corals but this shade is just gorgeous. It's fresh and fun yet sophisticated and natural. The formulation is creamy and nicely pigmented. It has a satin matte finish with a very subtle splash of golden shimmers. As compared to other Matte Revolution shades I've tried, this one feels extra smooth and cushiony, giving the lips a comfortable and creaseless finish.
Red Hot Susan: Dedicated to legendary actress Susan Sarandon, this is a nuanced burnt red with an orange undertone. It has a sprinkle of warm gold sparkles but they are barely noticeable unless you examine the color up close. Similar to Carina's Star, the lipstick is creamy and pigmented. The satin matte finish is smooth and non-drying.
