Packaging:
The Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick is packaged in a sturdy rectangular tube. The body is colored to reflect the shade inside and the tapered doe-foot applicator has a tiny reservoir in the center to help pick up extra product. The overall design feels a little clunky but the applicator is precise and easy to use.
Formulation:
Hands down one of the best matte liquid lipsticks on the market, the SuperStay Matte Ink has a viscous, creamy formulation that spreads easily on the lips. The pigmentation is super strong so one swipe usually provides a fully opaque coverage. The lipstick dries within a few minutes, after which it becomes pretty much bullet-proof. The color will last a full day, even with heavy eating and drinking. Although not drying, the formulation does feel a bit mask-like, which is really the only downside of the lipstick. If you are all about a smudge-proof and transfer-proof liquid lip color, the SuperStay Matte Ink is a must-have! Ten new shades are introduced as a part of the City Edition and I have six of them swatched below. See below for a description of each.

105 Explorer: A daring indigo blue, this is definitely one of the bolder shades in the range. The formulation is pretty pigmented but I found the application quite tricky as it's hard to ensure an even application, especially around the edges of the lips.
112 Composer: This is a very dark oxblood red. The formulation is slightly patchy so it's not one I would recommend unless you really love the color.
115 Founder: A deep rosy berry, this shade is a slightly pinker version of "
80 Ruler" from the SuperStay Matte Ink Un-Nudes Collection. The formulation is opaque in one swipe and quick-drying.
125 Inspirer: This is a lovely light pink that the Matte Ink range desperately lacked. The formulation is great but the drying time is a tad longer compared to the other shades.
130 Self-Starter: A unique muted smoky peach, this is super creamy and pigmented.
135 Globetrotter: This is a gorgeous burnt orange. The formulation is extremely pigmented and opaque.
