New from Tarte comes a "vegan makeup and skincare hybrid that’s your total complexion solution for achieving an ultra-comfortable, natural-radiant finish and custom coverage". Available in 30 shades, the Babassu Foundcealer Skincare Foundation ($51 CAD for 30 ml) is formulated with babassu palm seed oil and hyaluronic acid for a nourishing wear. I've got reviews along with some before and after swatches to share with you today. To read on, click......
Packaging:
The Babbasu Foundcealer Skincare Foundation comes in a snazzy double-barreled airless pump bottle topped with a purple cap embossed with tropical palm leaves. The cap twists to reveal a convenient pump dispenser so you can easily travel with the foundation without worrying about leaking.
Formulation:
Infused with babassu palm oil, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin E, the Babassu Foundcealer Skincare foundation has a viscous but creamy texture. The application is even and smooth but the coverage is medium at best, which is quite odd considering that the "Foundcealer" name seems to suggest that the formulation doubles as a concealer. In addition to the light coverage, the finish is extremely dewy, emphasizing my enlarged pores and thus requiring me to use several extra layers of powder to set things straight. As someone with combination skin, I often appreciate a matte finish but I can imagine the Babassu Foundcealer being more suitable for those with dry to very dry skin. In terms of wear, the foundation fared okay. As mentioned, the finish didn't look so greasy after a good setting powder and aside from some fading around the nose, the formulation held up nicely without dramatic oxidation, creasing, or patching. Additionally, it's worth noting that the foundation contains 7.47% titanium dioxide and 4.75% zinc oxide for an SPF 20 protection.

The Babassu Foundcealer Skincare Foundation is available in 30 shades and I have here four of them. Despite the distinct shade names and descriptions, all four shades I have are surprisingly similar to each other. With that said, all of them appear darker than they swatch on the skin so don't judge the shades based on how they look in the bottle. Overall, this is a very dewy and hydrating light to medium coverage liquid foundation. The formulation doesn't tick many of my boxes but those with dry to very dry skin may really appreciate it.
13N Fair Neutral: Despite its name, this is a fair ivory with warm undertones.
14S Fair Sand: Described as a fair sand with yellow undertones, this shade actually wears lighter and less warm than 13N.
16S Fair-Light Sand: Not much darker than 13N, this is a fair to light beige with warm undertones.
22S Light Sand: Described as a light sand with yellow undertones, this shade is pretty much identical to 16S.
