Not too long ago,
Charlotte Tilbury debuted the highly-coveted
Pillow Talk Luxury Eyeshadow Palette ($66 CAD) and
Pillow Talk Cheek To Chic Blush ($50 CAD)! The makeup community was beyond excited and the items were sold out within days. Now that the hype has calmed a bit, I wanted to take a closer look at the two to see if they are worth the investment. To see some swatches and read my reviews, click......
Charlotte Tilbury | Pillow Talk Luxury Eyeshadow Palette ($66 CAD for 5.2 g):
Described as the perfect rose gold eyeshadow palette, the Pillow Talk Luxury Palette offers four gorgeous neutral shades. You get a shimmery warm champagne (Prime), a matte petal pink that swatches much warmer than it appears in the pan (Enhance), a matte medium taupe that's also a lot richer and warmer than it appears (Smoke), and finally, a sparkly rosy champagne glitter topper (Pop).
In terms of formulation, the first three shades are all super creamy and pigmented. The mattes, in particular, are exceptionally smooth and non-patchy. The glitter topper (Pop), however, is quite sparse and tricky to apply. Unless you are putting it directly on top of a tacky base (i.e. shadow primer or cream eyeshadow), it will not adhere. I actually had to wet my flat shader brush in order to pick up the shimmers and pack it firmly on top of my lid. It's not a dealbreaker for me but many other brands have formulated creamier glitter toppers that don't need to be applied wet.
The four shades complement each other beautifully but I do feel that the palette lacks a neutral matte cream for blending. The matte pink is simply too dark and warm for me to transition it flawlessly into my natural skin tone. I ended up using another palette to complete the look. Nevertheless, I think this is a pretty neutral palette if you are a fan of warm rose tones.
Charlotte Tilbury | Pillow Talk Cheek To Chic Swish & Glow Blusher ($50 CAD for 8 g):
Consisting of a warm pink champagne and a terra cotta shimmer, the Pillow Talk Cheek To Chic Swish & Glow Blusher gives the cheeks a sophisticated glow. The powder formulation is super creamy and pigmented and it blends beautifully on the skin. The shade almost doubles as a highlighting bronzer on my skin tone but the color is rosy enough that it doesn't come off too dull. My only hesitation about Pillow Talk is its very shimmery finish, which puts an emphasis on any enlarged pores. Therefore, although this is a stunning shade, I wouldn't recommend it to those with lots of textural imperfections.
