Introduced last spring, the
Youth Capture skincare range (see my first post
here) from
Dior is expanding with a few new products, including a new exfoliating toner, a brightening eye treatment, and a nourishing oil-serum. I've had some time to test out all three so I wanted to share with my reviews today. To read on, click......
Dior | Youth Capture New Skin Effect Enzyme Solution Age-Delay Resurfacing Water ($83 CAD):
Formulated with glycolic acid (an AHA), microalgae extract, orris root, pineapple extract, and papaya enzyme, the Youth Capture Age-Delay Resurfacing Water is a lightweight exfoliating toner that removes dead skin cells and stimulates cellular activity. Housed in a pretty pink plastic bottle, the toner has the consistency of water and it is heavily fragranced with a floral scent. It spreads easily on the skin and feels refreshing and hydrating. There's no stinging sensation and I've not experienced any drying effect despite the fact that the formulation contains some alcohol. The toner immediately reveals softer, more radiant skin and it makes for a great first step in my skincare before serums and creams. I could definitely do without the heavy fragrance but overall, this is a solid AHA toner that's gentle yet effective. See full ingredient list

Dior | Youth Capture Age-Delay Advanced Eye Treatment ($95 CAD for 15 ml):
Housed in an elegant small glass bottle equipped with a pump dispenser, the Youth Capture Age-Delay Advanced Eye Treatment is a brightening eye cream designed to reduce dark circles and delay visible signs of fatigue and aging. Lightly fragranced and made with squalane, crithmum extract (a natural alternative to retinol derived from sea fennel), sodium hyaluronate, and a plethora of other botanical extracts that will take way too long to list, the eye treatment has a very lightweight, almost serum-like consistency that spreads easily and absorbs quickly without migrating and irritating the eyes.
The Age-Delay Advanced Eye Treatment may be a touch too light for those with very dry skin but I've noticed that the formulation does not layer well. Any time I've paired this with an eye cream or moisturizer, there was significant pilling in which the eye treatment formed clumps large enough that would fall right off the skin. For that reason, the product is not suitable for daytime use as it will interfere with makeup application. Overall, while the eye treatment improves radiance and texture without feeling heavy or greasy, it may not be rich enough for those with combination to dry skin that prefers a richer eye cream for the nighttime. Dior | Youth Capture Intense Rescue Age-Delay Revitalizing Oil-Serum ($120 CAD for 30 ml):
Designed to reduce dryness by restoring lipid content, the Intense Rescue Age-Delay Revitalizing Oil-Serum is formulated with argan oil, tamanu-derived fatty acids, and iris root (high in antioxidants). The serum dispenses from a convenient glass dropper and it has a slightly viscous texture that quickly absorbs into the skin. The serum leaves behind a slightly oily residue and I have experienced some pilling depending on the moisturizer I use it with. This does not surprise me much as dimethicone, the usual culprit for pilling, is the fourth ingredient on the list. Like the Age-Delay Advanced Eye Treatment, the serum is lightly scented with a floral fragrance but the smell is not as overpowering as that of the toner. In summary, this is a nice nourishing serum that will reduce dryness and boost the overall appearance of the skin. However, the formulation does not always layer well so I would not recommend it for daytime use. See full ingredient list
