In addition to the stunning new Lip Glow to the Max Color Reviver Balms, Dior has even more goodies in store for Spring 2019. One of the bestsellers from Dior, the signature Lip Maximizer Hyaluronic Lip Plumper ($42 CAD for 6 ml) has six new shades added to the family. Promising volume, hydration, and shine, the formulation now offers a playful hint of color. I've got reviews and swatches to share with you today. To read on, click......
Packaging:
The Dior Lip Maximizer Hyaluronic Lip Plumper comes in a clear acrylic lipgloss tube etched with the Dior logo along the side. The silver knobbed cap features a simple doe-foot applicator. As far as I know, the Lip Maximizer packaging has not changed since its initial release so the look has become quite iconic.
Formulation:
Made with hyaluronic acid, the Dior Lip Maximizer is a plumping lip gloss that promises to visibly increase lip volume by 29%. Originally, only two shades (001 Pink and 013 Beige) were available and now six new shades have been added to the permanent lineup. With a lightweight and hydrating formulation, the Lip Maximizer gives the lips a very intense tingling thanks to the menthol (menthoxypropanediol) added to the ingredients. I personally find the effect quite intense but I know some people really enjoy the cooling sensation. All the new shades are lightly tinted, giving the lips a soft hint of color (and shimmers, in some case) while also providing a glossy, plumping shine. The finish is just a touch tacky but the overall wear is comfortable after the tingling subsides. Dior recommends pairing these with the original Lip Glow (reviewed here, here, and here) or the new Lip Glow to the Max Color Reviver Balms (reviewed here) but since those are already pretty shiny on their own, I'm not sure I would do that. See below for a breakdown of the six shades I have here.
001 Pink: This is the original shade. It is a soft milky pink that gives the lips just a hint of color.
004 Coral: One of the sheerest out of the bunch, this is a soft papaya orange.
006 Berry: A sheer berry pink, this shade in the Lip Glow formulation (reviewed here) is hands down my most used lip product. The color is a bit more purple compared to its Lip Glow counterpart but it's still very flattering.
007 Raspberry: Probably my favorite out of the six, Raspberry is a pretty, classic pink. The pigmentation is stronger in comparison so it packs a bigger punch.
009 Holographic Purple: One of the two "holographic" shades added (the other is 010 Holographic Pink, which I do not have), Holographic Purple is an icy baby pink scattered with iridescent lavender sparkles. The formulation is on the sheerer end and it can look a touch patchy if not carefully applied so I would recommend pairing it with a base color.
012 Rosewood: Last but not least is this flattering rose beige nude with just a subtle hint of warm sparkles. As some of the other shades (especially the ones with a milky tint) can look a touch patchy, this one is super smooth and even as the color is closer to my natural lip color. For this reason, I predict that it will be one of the more popular shades.
Availability:
Dior is available at Dior, Sephora, Hudson's Bay, select Shoppers Drug Mart, Holt Renfrew, and Nordstrom.
