I took my first foray into the world of
Clé de Peau makeup last Christmas with the whimsical
Féeries d'Hiver Collection and fell in love with the Lipstick Cashmere formulation. It turns out that aside from the limited edition berry pink color for Holiday 2018, the
Lipstick Cashmere ($80 CAD for 4 g) collection offers eight permanent shades that promise a high-impact and hydrating wear. I've got a couple shades to share with you today. To read my review and see some swatches, click......
Packaging:
The Clé de Peau Lipstick Cashmere comes in a deep navy and pale gold tube. The navy blue exterior is scattered with a subtle iridescent shimmer while the top of the cap has a brushed gold finish that's etched with the Clé de Peau logo. The tip of the bullet features a unique petal shape and the lipstick is weighted for an ultra luxurious feel.
Formulation:
Infused with argan oil, the Clé de Peau Lipstick Cashmere is a highly pigmented satin lipstick with a creamy but lightweight texture. The formulation glides on like a dream and it feels super comfortable and nourishing on the lips. The range is available in eight shades and I have here two of them. "
104 Decadent" is a beautiful deep red that's not quite your traditional wine red and "
106 Wild Geranium" is a bright and summery warm pink. Both shades are opaque in one swipe but I have noticed that the pigments don't really cling to the lips so they tend to bunch and move around when I press my lips together. This sometimes creates a bit of patchiness (more apparent with "106 Wild Geranium") but the problem is only noticeable when the lips are examined up close. I've not experienced the same issues with the limited edition Holiday 2018 Lipstick Cashmere in "505 Paint Me" (reviewed
here), so I'm not sure if there are some variations with the formulation. In terms of wear, the Lipstick Cashmere fared okay. Since the formulation is so slick and hydrating, it is prone to transferring and smudging so touch-ups are required to maintain an intense and even coverage.
Overall, this is a lovely satin lipstick. The formulation is super rich yet lightweight but I do wish the pigments hugged the lips better to ensure a more even and long-lasting coverage. The packaging certainly feels luxurious and expensive but the $80 price is hard to justify unless you are really in the mood to splurge. Up to how much would you pay for a lipstick?
