Reportedly the foundation Meghan Markle wore on her wedding day, the Dior Backstage Face & Body Foundation ($50 CAD for 50 ml) is described as the "secret weapon to create a flawless, runway-ready complexion". Released last summer, this foundation has already garnered a massive fan base. I've only recently got my hands on a bottle so I'm kind of late to the game. Nevertheless, I wanted to share with you my review and swatches on this long-lasting, matte liquid foundation. Is it as amazing as its claims? Read on to find out......
Packaging:
The Dior Backstage Face & Body Foundation comes in a simple squeezable plastic bottle equipped with a precise spout opening. The bottle has a matte, almost rubbery finish, giving the packaging a chic, minimalist aesthetic. Most foundations offer 30 ml of product but the Backstage Face & Body Foundation comes with 50 ml. Given that most high-end foundations cost anywhere between $60 to upwards of $255 (I'm looking at you, La Prairie), $50 for 50 ml is pretty much a steal!
Formulation:
Designed for Dior backstage fashion shows, the Backstage Face & Body Foundation features a waterproof and sweat-resistant formulation that promises to withstand all extreme conditions (ex. sweaty workout). With a runny but creamy formulation, the foundation blends easily and provides a natural, medium coverage. The foundation is easy to sheer out for a lighter tint but it also builds nicely for a higher coverage. The formulation sets quickly to a completely matte finish that's surprisingly comfortable and breathable. The foundation seems to fuse with the skin, making it completely smudge- and transfer-proof.
I have oily, combination skin but have been struggling with dryness recently due to the winter weather. Therefore, I did notice some clinging and dryness around my cheek and brow area. However, I am impressed with how well the foundation held up throughout the day. Whereas an inferior foundation will crease and emphasize fine-lines around my brow and undereye, the Dior Backstage Face & Body Foundation did not. Additionally, it was also a champ and delaying shine around my nose and forehead area.
Availability:
Dior is available at Dior, Sephora, Hudson's Bay, select Shoppers Drug Mart, beautyboutique.ca, Holt Renfrew, and Nordstrom.

Dior | Backstage Face & Body Foundation in "1 Warm (1W)" |
The foundation range is available in 40 shades and I have here "1 Warm (1W)". It is light ivory with a noticeable yellow undertone. The shade swatches quite warm but it blends out a bit more neutral. However, the color is just a touch too yellow for me but with a cool-toned powder to balance the warmth, I can make it work. Overall, this is a fantastic foundation that's a close rival to my all time favorite Teint Idole Ultra Foundation from Lancome. I personally would have preferred a more pigmented formulation but the natural matte finish and flawless, long wear time is impressive. I would not recommend it to those with dry to very dry skin but for those with oily and combination skin, this is a must try!
