Described as the "matte lipstick of your dreams", the Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick ($23 CAD) from Fenty Beauty by Rihanna is getting an awesome shade extension for Spring 2019. With ten new colors ranging from a bubble gum pink to a bright mustard yellow, the range promises the same impressive pigmentation and application. I've got reviews and swatches to share with you today. To read on, click......
Packaging:
The Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipsticks are housed in a slim plastic tube coated with a reflective rose gold finish. The bullet has a slanted, flattened tip embossed with the Fenty Beauty "FB" logo. The packaging looks very chic and trendy but it feels slightly flimsy as it isn't weighted. However, the lipstick is reasonably priced at $23 so I won't complain too much.
Formulation:
Velvety smooth and ultra-pigmented, the Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipsticks are some of the best matte lipsticks on the market right now. The range strikes a nice balance between longevity and comfort so despite being very long-lasting, the formulation is lightweight and not super drying. There is no bleeding or creasing and the color really stays put through moderate eating and drinking. You can read my full breakdown of the formulation in my previous post here. As expected, there are some variations in formulation among the ten new shades, read on to learn more about each.
Flamingo Acid: Perhaps my favorites of the bunch, Flamingo Acid is a deep berry plum that's pigmented and easy to apply.
Dragon Mami: A stunning bright coral, Dragon Mami screams 2019 Pantone Color of the Year (Living Coral). If you want to be on trend, this is the color to get. The formulation is super pigmented and opaque in one swipe.
Tiger Tini: This is a bright orange lipstick. As expected, the formulation is creamy and opaque, probably the best matte orange I've ever tried.
Thicc: My second favorite of the bunch, Thicc (how awesome is that name?) is a mauve rose nude. Despite being a lighter shade, the formulation is very pigmented and non-patchy.
Ballerina Blackout: A cool-tone pale pink, Ballerina Blackout has a creamier, more satin formulation as compared to some of the other shades. It's pigmented but just a touch streaky and more prone to moving around on the lips.
Pumpkin Rose: This is a very unique bright mustard yellow lipstick. The formulation is drier and chalkier as compared to the other shades, mostly due to the fact that yellow pigments are tricky to work with. However, the color is fully buildable to an even and opaque coverage.
I Quit: A soft taupe gray, I Quit is smooth and buildable to a fully opaque finish.
F'N Black: This is a simple matte black. The formulation is rather patchy and uneven so unless you line your lips with a black liner, the finish will look splotchy upon close inspection.
Turks and Caicos: An eye-catching medium teal, this shade is just a touch sheer but buildable.
Violet Fury: This is a neutral purple that's similar to "Ballerina Blackout" in that the formulation is creamier. Unlike the pale pink, however, Violet Fury is even and non-streaky.
