Clé de Peau | Holiday 2018 Féeries d'Hiver Collection: Review and Swatches
Inspired by the world of fairytales and whimsy, Clé de Peau is taking us on an "an unexpected adventure to a colorful dream world of endless possibilities" with its limited edition Holiday 2018 Féeries d’Hiver Collection. Translating to "winter festivities" in English, the Féeries d’Hiver Collection is appropriately adorned with the stunning artwork of illustrator Daria Petrilli. I've got the review and swatches of the collection to share with you today. To read on, click......
Clé de Peau | Holiday 2018 Féeries d'Hiver Collection | Eye Color Quad in "318 Tea Party": Review and Swatches
Clé de Peau Holiday 2018 | Eye Color Quad in "318 Tea Party"
Clé de Peau Holiday 2018 | Eye Color Quad in "318 Tea Party" ($110 CAD for 4.5 g):
Housed in the most exquisite compact featuring the illustration of a woman surrounded by luscious pink peonies, the Eye Color Quad in "318 Tea Party" comes with two mini dual-ended eyeshadow applicators. The compact is made of plastic but the quality feels so sleek and sturdy that it can almost pass for metal. The lid has a raised, glossy finish, but it's not the squishy and slightly tacky kind you find with palettes from brands like Too Faced or Armani (see example here and here). The pricing for Clé de Peau products is admittedly high but the packaging looks and feels indisputably expensive and luxurious.

With a cool-toned wintery theme, "318 Tea Party" comes with a pale lavender, light dove gray, icy pearlescent blue, and a soft charcoal gray. All four shades have a light sparkly overspray and each is pressed with the silhouette of a playing card suit. Despite the sparkly overspray, however, the shadows have more of a satin finish with no overt shimmers. The formulation has a really silky and buttery texture but the pigmentation is definitely on the sheerer side. In my opinion, this is a palette very much catered towards an Asian clientele that prefers a sheerer eyeshadow look. If you like your eyeshadows packed to the brim with pigments, then this is probably not the palette for you. With the said, the beautiful packaging alone makes this one completely collection-worthy!
Clé de Peau | Holiday 2018 Féeries d'Hiver Collection | Refining Pressed Powder in "Pink Push Me": Review and Swatches
Clé de Peau Holiday 2018 | Refining Pressed Powder in "Pink Push Me"
Clé de Peau Holiday 2018 | Refining Pressed Powder in "Pink Push Me" ($140 CAD for 4 g):
Housed in a similar square compact but bearing a different illustration of a woman surrounded with dainty butterflies, the Refining Pressed Powder in "Pink Push Me" is a very silky and finely-milled setting powder. Included is a flocked sponge cushion for application on the go and it's worth mentioning that the compact comes with a really nice light blue cloth dust bag (as does the Eye Color Quad above) for safe storage. Also pressed with the symbols of the four playing card suits, the powder has a light shimmery overspray. However, the formulation contains no shimmers but provides a pale pink translucent finish that's very smoothing and blurring. The color is not suitable for those with a medium to dark skin tone as it will end up looking quite ashy but for those with a pale to light skin tone, it provides a really lovely brightening effect. The powder is lightly mattifying so I find that with my oily skin, I do need to touch up regularly to keep the shine at bay.

Clé de Peau | Holiday 2018 Féeries d'Hiver Collection | Stick Highlighter in "PG Light Me": Review and Swatches
Clé de Peau Holiday 2018 | Stick Highlighter in "PG Light Me"
Clé de Peau Holiday 2018 | Stick Highlighter in "PG Light Me" ($95 CAD for 4 g):
Housed in a metal twist-up and retractable case printed with another gorgeous illustration by Daria Petrilli. The "PG Light Me" Stick Highlighter is a pale champagne gold highlighter. The cream formulation is on the drier side and although application over bare skin is smooth and easy to blend, it was quite challenging to apply directly over makeup. There was a lot of tugging so the finish was patchy and uneven. I eventually had to "dot" the product directly onto the face but the shimmers didn't really build. It's also worth noting that the highlighter is quite dull. Despite visible shimmer particles, the finish is almost completely devoid of any luster. The product may be suitable for those that prefer a very subtle sheen but for me, it's a miss.

Clé de Peau Holiday 2018 | Lipstick Cashmere in "505 Paint Me" ($80 CAD for 4 g):
Last but certainly not least is the Lipstick Cashmere in "505 Paint Me". An intense and saturated berry pink, this is a rich and moisturizing lipstick with a soft satin finish. Right in line with the rest of the collection, the lipstick comes in a whimsical light pink case paired with a light blue argyle print. I've never tried Clé de Peau lipsticks before and was pleasantly surprised with the unique petal-shaped bullet that proved to be very effective in making precise lines. The formulation is super pigmented and unbelievably comfortable and the wear time is impressive as well. Of all the beautiful pieces in this collection, this is definitely the one I would recommend the most!
