Last year,
Pixi released a range of
liquid lipsticks called the
MatteLast Liquid Lip ($14 CAD for 6.9 ml) that received high praise from just about everyone in the beauty community. So not surprisingly, the collection has recently expanded with the addition of a few bolder, brighter shades. I've got review and swatches to share with you today. To read on, click......

Packaging:
The Pixi MatteLast Liquid Lip comes in a simple clear acrylic tube paired with a light green cap. The doe-foot applicator is petal-shaped with a hollow center, which allows the wand to pick up some extra product.
Formulation:
The MatteLast Liquid Lip is a classic liquid lipstick that's pigmented and creamy. The formulation completely sets to transfer-proof finish that will stay put through moderate eating and drinking. All the shades with a few exceptions are opaque in one swipe and quick to set. They aren't particularly drying but it's definitely wise to prep the lips before applying as the formulation will emphasize dry patches. See below for a breakdown of the five shades I have here. Overall, these are some amazing and affordable liquid lipsticks comparable in quality with those from Stila and Kat Von D. The color selection is now larger than ever (see the other shades
here) so you can definitely find a shade for you!

Peony Pink: This is a nice soft dusty pink. The formulation is decently pigmented but the finish is just a tad streaky if not carefully applied.
Prettiest Pink: A hot medium pink, Prettiest Pink is nicely pigmented and creamy. However, this shade took very long to fully set, which was inconvenient and allowed for more opportunity for transferring and patching.
Orange Red: This is a bright orange-red. The formulation is incredibly rich, pigmented, and opaque in one swipe. I'm generally not a fan of oranges but this one is too good to pass up.
Real Red: A classic deep red, Real Red is super rich, creamy, and opaque. It is my personal favorite out of the entire MatteLast line-up.
Berry Boost: A vampy wine red, Berry Boost is strangely sheer and patchy. With a thinner, runnier consistency, the formulation seems different from that of all the other shades. It takes considerably longer to dry and even with two coats, I was only able to attain a patchy, uneven finish.
