New for Fall 2018,
Marc Jacobs has released a nine-shade single shadow collection featuring a range of wearable, flattering neutrals. Available in a supersized compact and made with long-wearing, gel-coated pigments, the
O!mega Gel Powder Eyeshadows ($36 CAD for 3.8 g each) promise a silky cashmere texture that glides on like butter. I've got review and swatches of a few shades to share with you. To read on, click.....
Packaging:
The Marc Jacobs O!mega Gel Powder Eyeshadow comes in a shiny black round compact with a smooth, pebble-like feel. There's a small mirror on the underside of the lid and each eyeshadow contains 3.8 g of product. Traditionally, single eyeshadows range anywhere from 2 g to 3 g so the O!mega shadows actually contain almost two times the product which means these will pretty much last you forever.
Formulation:
Made with "gel-coated" pigments that promise a high-impact, minimal fallout application, the O!mega Gel Powder Eyeshadows are available in nine shades and three finishes. I have here all three of the matte offerings. "
The Big O!", a fan favorite from Marc Jacobs, is a warm matte brown that's super creamy and pigmented. The color wears noticeably darker than it swatches but it's the perfect crease and blending color. Next up is "
Daddi-O!", a creamy neutral brown that's equally pigmented and silky. It's great for all over the lid or just in the outer corner. Last but not least is "
O! Mercy", which is a matte brick red. Unlike the previous two, this one is noticeably chalkier in texture and very difficult to blend. The application is rather patchy which is especially disappointing because it is my favorite shade out of the three.
So with "O! Mercy" aside, "The Big O!" and "Daddi-O!" are undoubtly some of the best matte eyeshadows I've ever tried. The formulation truly feels unique and almost silk-like. With that said, there is noticeable kick-back with the shadows so the compact does get pretty messy. With that said, the fallouts aren't too bad, especially if you take care to tap off any excess before applying. Below is a look I created using all three shades. I had intended to use only "O! Mercy" in the outer corner but because it applied so poorly, I had to bring "Daddi-O!" to the rescue to blend everything out properly. Overall, this is a great range of single eyeshadows! Although the shade selection is fairly limited, there are some great neutral staples to choose from so I would definitely recommend checking them out in person. There is definitely some variation in formulation but "The Big O!" and "Daddi-O!" are both superb.
