Kiehl's offer an impressive range of face masks (ex. Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque, Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque, just to name a couple of my favorites) and new for fall, the brand is offering a sheet mask formulated with three precious Amazonian oils designed to deeply hydrate and soften the skin. I've got a quick review of the Instant Renewal Concentrate Mask ($43 CAD for 4 Treatments) to share with you today. To read on, click......
Available in packs of four, the Instant Renewal Mask is a sheet mask made with biocellulose-embedded hydrogel (see sample patch of the material above) designed to provide optimal hydration. With a soft but durable jelly-like texture, the mask actually comes in two pieces, one for the upper half of the face and one for the lower half. The hydrogel has a much smoother texture that feels more soothing and calming on the skin as compared to traditional fiber sheet masks. However, because the hydrogel is not as thin as a fiber sheet, it doesn't conform to the contours of the face as well. Nevertheless, the mask isn't too heavy so it stays put without sliding down the face.

Formulated with cold-pressed oils of Amazonian plants (copaiba, andiroba, and pracaxi) and extracts of coconut fruit, blueberry, pomegranate, and blackberry, the mask serum is surprisingly lightweight and non-greasy. The hydrogel is sufficiently saturated with serum and although it did not completely dry out after 15 minutes of wear, it did lose a significant amount of moisture and began dry. Usually, sheet masks come with some extra serum that can be poured out of the packet to replenish the mask but the Kiehl's Instant Renewal Concentrate Mask came with very little extra serum. Nevertheless, my skin felt nourished and softened after use and my complexion looked a little brighter. Overall, this is a really nice and pleasant sheet mask that's easy to use and well-made. I don't think it's a skincare must have but it's definitely a nice treat every once in a while! What's your opinion on hydrogel masks? Do you prefer them over regular sheet masks?
