Fresh is well-known for its beloved Sugar lip care collection and for Fall 2018, the brand is introducing an innovative leave-on kip exfoliator infused with sugar extract, fruit extract, and hibiscus-derived AHAs. Housed in a small, purse-friendly glass vial equipped with a dropper dispenser, the Sugar Lip Wonder Drops is a liquid, non-mechanical lip exfoliator made with AHAs derived from hibiscus flower. With a viscous, serum-like texture, the formulation spreads easily on the lips and dries down within seconds. The mostly scent-free gel does leave behind a palpable, tacky residue but it's not designed to be used alone. In fact, despite being formulated with hyaluronic acid, and sugar and fruit extracts, the Sugar Lip Wonder Drops is not very hydrating. Therefore, it's important to follow up with a rich lip balm or a hydrating lipstick.
Immediately after use, my lips feel softer and smoother. However, if I don't promptly layer a balm on top, they will feel dry and tight. Additionally, I've noticed that if I'm using a slicker, lighter balm, the balm won't adhere as well to the lips after applying the Sugar Lip Wonder Drops. Therefore, the drops may not be a compatible base for all lip products. Overall, I think this is an excellent in-a-pinch or on-the-go lip exfoliant that definitely provides softer, smoother lips. However, if your lips have visible dry patches in need of a deeper exfoliation and nourishment, I would recommend using a sugar-based mechanical lip scrub infused with a heavy oil or shea base (ex. Fresh Sugar Lip Polish or Tart Pout Prep Lip Exfoliant).
