A couple weeks ago, I had the pleasure of attending a very fun yoga + breakfast event hosted by Biossance. I've only recently discovered the brand so I was super excited to learn more about the product range. I've already tried the Squalane + Micronutrient Fine Mist and Squalane + Phyto-Retinol Serum (reviewed here) and today I have reviews of the Squalane + Antioxidant Cleansing Oil, Squalane + Probiotic Gel Moisturizer, and the Squalane + Peptide Eye Gel to share. To read on, click......
Biossance | Squalane + Antioxidant Cleansing Oil ($36 CAD for 200 ml):
Formulated with the moisturizing sugar cane-derived squalane, the Squalane + Antioxidant Cleansing Oil is a gentle yet effective facial cleanser that removes all traces of makeup and dirt. With eight botanical oils (rosehip, moringa, oat kernel, etc), the cleansing oil has the most extraordinarily lightweight and pleasant feel. It glides super smoothly on the face and feels surprisingly non-greasy. It completely removes my most stubborn waterproof eye makeup and best of all, it's very easy to wash off. With no icky film or residue left behind, the cleanser rinses off cleanly without needing any intense rubbing or emulsifying. Priced at $36, this is definitely one of the best and more affordable cleansing oils on the market right now so I highly recommend checking it out!
Ingredients: Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Polyglyceryl-2 Caprate, Squalane, C13-15 Alkane, Polyglyceryl-2 Sesquioleate, Triethylhexanoin, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Rosa Moschata Seed Oil, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Oil, Oenothera Biennis, (Evening Primrose) Oil, Moringa Oleifera Seed Oil, Lavandula Hybrida Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil, Helianthus, Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Tocopherol.
Biossance | Squalane + Probiotic Gel Moisturizer ($64 CAD for 50 ml):
This is a lightweight squalane-based gel moisturizer designed to hydrate and plump without adding any heavy oiliness to the skin. Made with probiotic yeast ferment that expedites skin renewal, red seaweed and ginger extract that reduces redness, and swiss garden cress sprouts extract that brightens the complexion, the moisturizer has a bouncy, almost pudding-like texture that feels super relaxing and cooling on the skin. The formulation does contain silicone but I didn't experience any pilling or too much of that silicone "slip". Additionally, because the formulation is lightweight, it works well under makeup without compromising longevity. The moisturizer has a slightly dewy finish but I didn't find it to be overly greasy or shine-inducing. Overall, this is a nice daytime gel moisturizer. It's nothing groundbreaking but great for those looking for some light, summertime hydration.
Ingredients: Water, Squalane, Glycerin, Dimethicone, Pentylene Glycol, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Lactococcus Ferment Lysate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Dimethiconol, Chrondrus Crispus Extract, Allantoin, Bisabolol, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Sterols, Linoleic Acid, Phospholipids, Sodium Phytate, Lechithin, Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium Hyaluronate, Lactic Acid, Lepidium Sativum Sprout Extract, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Benzoate, Citric Acid, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract.
Biossance | Squalane + Peptide Eye Gel ($68 CAD for 15 ml):
Last but not least we have here the Squalane + Peptide Eye Gel. Housed in a very convenient and travel-friendly pump bottle, this eye gel is formulated with brightening vitamin C, rejuvenating swiss apple stem cell extract, and two peptides (eyeseryl and argireline) designed to reduce puffiness and dark circles. With a lightweight but viscous texture, the eye gel glides on smoothly and instantly hydrates and soothes the eye area. What I love the most is that it stays in place without moving around too much as slicker, greasier eye creams tend to do. As I disclose in all my eye cream reviews, because I don't have a lot of visible wrinkles just yet, it's hard for me to testify to any anti-aging claims. However, what I can say is that the Biossance Squalane + Peptide Eye Gel is very hydrating and brightening. When I wake up in the morning, my eye area looks noticeably well-rested and nourished, giving way to an overall more awake and radiant appearance. So if you are looking for a hydrating and brightening eye cream that's lightweight and non-greasy, then this one is definitely a worthy selection.
