Last fall
Rimmel London released its first matte liquid lipstick range called the
Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colour ($8.99 CAD for 6.5 ml each). Available in 14 shades (see the original lineup
here), the line promises a pigmented, one-swipe coverage. For Summer 2018, the brand has created 14 additional shades, offering more neutral browns and unique nudes than ever. I've got reviews and swatches of all 14 new shades to share with you today. To read on, click......

Packaging:
The Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colours come in a modern matte plastic lipgloss tube. The doe-foot applicator is tapered on both sides to ensure a smooth application. There's nothing too fancy here but for $8.99, they are sleek, sturdy, and very well-made.
Formulation:
The
original 14 shades varied quite a bit in terms of pigmentation and consistency so I don't really know what to expect with these new colors. Unfortunately, the same is the case with this batch. With a creamy, almost whipped texture, the Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colours lean toward the sheerer side. A few shades performed okay but these certainly are not one-swipe and go. See below for a detailed breakdown of all 14 shades. The formulation does set completely to a true matte finish that's transfer-proof. They will fade with heavy eating and drinking but the wear is comparable to similar liquid lipsticks on the market.

703 Vanilla Lovin: This is a very pale peach nude. The formulation is incredibly sheer and patchy. The color refuses to build so I actually had to use four layers to attain a barely presentable finish. This resulted in the product creasing and moving around, significantly prolonging dry time. This is definitely a shade I would avoid.
705 Stripped: An ivory peach nude, this shade is similar to Vanilla Lovin but not as sheer and patchy. Again, this is not a shade I would recommend.
706 Raw Embrace: A sandy taupe brown nude, Raw Embrace is fairly sheer but much better in comparison to the previous shades. With that said, this color is not very flattering as it makes the skin look ashy.
707 Raw Kiss: This is a soft peachy pink. The formulation is relatively more pigmented but I still find it quite sheer for a liquid lipstick.
708 Mwah: A soft rosy brown, Mwah is sheer but buildable with an even and smooth coverage.
708 Strapless: A cool tone pale rosy brown, Strapless is reasonably pigmented and smooth.
220 Urban Affair: This is a unique gray with a slight hint of lavender. The formulation is actually not bad. Comparable to Strapless, it is smooth and buildable.

230 Lethal Kiss: A warm elephant gray, Lethal Kiss is decently pigmented and opaque.
723 Troublemaker: A soft chestnut brown, Troublemaker is another decently pigmented shade.
725 Love Bite: This is a warm gingerbread brown. This shade is not too sheer and the color is buildable.
731 Scandalous: A medium cedarwood brown, Scandalous is reasonably pigmented and smooth.
733 Plunge: A medium brown with a hint of gray, Plunge is on the sheerer side but buildable to a mostly even coverage.
860 Trust You: This is a deep maroon. The pigmentation is good but there is still some subtle patchiness.
870 Devotion: This is a very deep plummy black. The pigmentation is not bad but the coverage is patchy.

This shade extension certainly offers a number of unique nudes and browns but the overall formulation is disappointing. For $8.99 CAD, it's not a big investment but I personally would spend more for much better formulation. The
Maybelline Matte Ink offers amazing pigmentation and an even better wear time while the
Tarte Tarteist Quick Dry Matte Paint shares a similar formulation but with a much better pigmentation. If your heart is set on this line, though, I would recommend the shades "220 Urban Affair", "230 Lethal Kiss", "707 Raw Kiss", "708 Mwah", "709 Strapless", 723 Troublemaker", "725 Love Bite, and "733 Plunge".
