Housed in a tall frosted glass bottle equipped with a small spout opening, the Black Tea Kombucha Facial Treatment Essence is concentrated with yeast-fermented black tea that's packed with antioxidants. Additionally, the essence contains African kigelia fruit extract for firming, mandarin orange peel for brightening, and hyaluronic acid for boosting hydration. With a very subtle and pleasant tea scent, the essence has a consistency slightly thicker than that of water. To use, shake out a few drops from the bottle and massage over cleansed skin, either after toning or in place of a toner.
The formulation feels immediately soothing and hydrating and it absorbs quickly, leaving behind an ever-so-slightly tacky finish. I've gone a couple of times when I didn't immediately follow up with a face cream and my skin remained surprisingly supple and moisturized. So needless to say, the essence is very hydrating, especially in comparison to a typical toner. It also appears that the essence gives my skin more bounce and glow but it doesn't add any texture or weight that would interfere with the rest of my skincare.
Overall this is a really pleasant product. I like the lightweight, alcohol-free formulation and the subtle tea fragrance. Despite being so light, the essence is hydrating and nourishing. With that said, I don't think this is a must-have product especially for those that prefer a simple, no-fuss skincare routine. However, if you are like me and use anywhere up to five or six products at a time, then this is a very welcoming addition that provides an extra boost of hydration and luminosity.
