Chanel Cruise 2018 | Palette Essentielle Été in "190 Éclat Solaire" |
Chanel Cruise 2018 | Palette Essentielle Été in "190 Éclat Solaire" ($85 CAD for 9 g):
First seen in the
Fall 2017 Travel Diary Collection, the Chanel Palette Essentielle is a three-in-one face palette with a cream formulation. This limited summer edition is called "
190 Éclat Solaire" (Solar Glare) and it contains one blush and two highlighters. The blush is a bold semi-sheer red; it has no shimmers and blends easily to provide a rosy flush to the cheeks. For the highlighters, you get a bronze champagne shimmer and a pale yellow-gold shimmer. The champagne has a fine, pearl finish while the gold is sheerer and contains more micro-sparkles. The formulation for all three is slightly tacky but once set, they are lightweight and non-sticky. The highlighters are prone to fading and transferring so the wear is not great. I'm personally not a fan of cream products so the palette isn't really my cup of tea but if you like cream blushes and cream highlighters, then this is a good option for the summertime.

Chanel Cruise 2018 | Éclat Énigmatique Quadra Eyeshadow Palette |
Chanel Cruise 2018 | Éclat Énigmatique Quadra Eyeshadow Palette ($70 CAD for 2g):
Pressed with a unique sand ripple design, the Éclat Énigmatique Quadra Eyeshadow Palette contains four sophisticated satin-shimmer eyeshadows that feel more fall/winter than summer. There is a burnt brick red, a pale ivory pearl, a dark granite scattered with iridescent micro-shimmers, and a medium bronze. With the exception of the ivory, which is quite sheer, the entire palette is super silky and pigmented. The shadows have a baked texture so although they don't feel creamy and rich, they blend beautifully on the lids. Again, this quad doesn't speak summer to me but the color combination is just stunning. If you are pre-shopping (because that's definitely a thing) for the fall and winter season, then do yourself a favor and pick this one up!

Chanel Cruise 2018 | Stylo Yeux Waterproof Eyeliners |
Chanel Cruise 2018 | Stylo Yeux Waterproof Eyeliners ($35 CAD for 0.3 g each):
The Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof offers three limited edition shades for Summer 2018. "
867 Secret" is a dark mossy green, "
887 Charme" is a unique mauve-brown, and "
897 Révélation" is a sparkly taupe brown. With the exception of the mauve-brown which is slightly sheer, the eyeliners are creamy and pigmented. They glide beautifully on the back of the hand but there is a bit of tugging along the lashline. Although these are technically waterproof, they are not smudge-proof so I did experience some fading and smudging after a few hours of wear, especially with the shade "867 Secret". I'm not a big pencil eyeliner person to begin with and these just didn't really wow me. With that said, the color selection is very flattering and the twist-up/retractable packaging is sleek and convenient.

Chanel Cruise 2018 | L'Eau Tan Refreshing Self-Tanning Body Mist |
Chanel Cruise 2018 | L'Eau Tan Refreshing Self-Tanning Body Mist ($80 CAD for 75 ml):
Alright, so I will admit right off the bat that I do not like to tan. Like many Asian women, I strive for a pale, luminous complexion all year-round so I stay far, far away from any self-tanners. However, because this product is a big release for Chanel, I still want to share a bit about it in this post. Inspired by the L'Huile Tan self-tanning oil released by Gabrielle Chanel in 1932, L'Eau Tan is a lightweight self-tanning water housed in a beautiful frosted glass bottle equipped with a fine-mist spray nozzle. Formulated with "a very small percentage of dihydroxyacetone", a sugar-derived ingredient that reacts with the top layer of skin to create a tanned color, L'Eau Tan provides a very light tan that's "quite golden but very transparent". Since I like to stay as pale as possible, I don't plan on testing out the effectiveness of the product but what I can comment on are the texture and scent. Dispensed as a super fine mist, L'Eau Tan essentially feels like water. With a scent created by Olivier Polge (the nose behind many iconic Chanel fragrances), the mist is lightly citrus and sweet. The smell doesn't linger around for long but it certainly elevates the whole tanning experience.

Chanel Cruise 2018 | Le Rouge Crayon de Couleur Jumbo Longwear Lip Crayons |
Chanel Cruise 2018 | Le Rouge Crayon de Couleur Jumbo Longwear Lip Crayons ($43 CAD for 1.2 g each):
Released last spring, the Le Rouge Crayon de Couleur has four new, limited edition shades as a part of the Cruise 2018 Collection. I have here "
17 À La Rosée", a soft coral pink, "
18 Rose Shocking", a bright warm pink, and "
20 Ultra Rose", a saturated tangerine red that also leans a bit pink. All three have a beautifully slick and extremely hydrating formulation but they vary quite a bit in terms of pigmentation. While "17 À La Rosée" is quite sheer with the tendency to settle a bit in the fine lines, "20 Ultra Rose" is super pigmented and intense. "18 Rose Shocking" lands somewhere in between, offering both a bold color and a flattering translucent finish.

All three shades require some layering to obtain an even coverage but despite appearing like they would be too slick to stay put, the formulation wears pretty well. "17 À La Rosée" does fade quickly (as expected for such a light color), but the other two shades lasts a good five hours even with some moderate eating and drinking. After the shine wears off, there is no patchiness and the pigments cling well to the lips without appearing dry or wrinkly.

Chanel Cruise 2018 | Le Vernis Nail Polish |
Chanel Cruise 2018 | Le Vernis Nail Polish ($32 CAD for 13 ml each):
Last but not least are these three limited edition Le Vernis shades. "
608 Légèreté" is a muted seafoam green; the formulation is nicely pigmented and even. A soft warm baby pink, "
610 Halo" is surprisingly difficult to work with. With a slightly thicker formulation, the pigmentation is not bad but the application is uneven and patchy. You can get away with just two coats if you are truly skilled but chances are you will need three to obtain a smooth, opaque coverage. "
612 Chicness" is a creamy mauve brown. The color is sheerer than expected but two coats gave a nice enough finish.

This is a beautiful summer collection filled to the brim with unexpectedly soft and feminine colors. My personal picks are the Éclat Énigmatique Quadra Eyeshadow Palette, the Le Rouge Crayon de Couleur in "20 Ultra Rose", and the Le Vernis in "608 Légèreté".
