Inspired by the enigmatic beauty of the African terrain, the
Givenchy Les Saisons 2018 African Light Collection is available for a limited time only and today I want to share with you a few key pieces from the collection. To read my reviews and see some swatches of the Bouncy Highlighter Cooling Jelly Glow and the new Rouge Interdit Vinyl shades, click......
Givenchy | Bouncy Highlighter in "01 African Light Gold" ($49 CAD for 9.5g):
Pressed with a unique geometric design, the Bouncy Highlighter Cooling Jelly Glow is a lightweight gel-cream highlighter housed in a simple plastic jar secured with a twist-off cap. Formulated with macadamia oil, honey extract, and coconut water, the highlighter shade is called "
01 African Light Gold" and it is a sheer pale champagne shimmer scattered with micro gold sparkles. As its name suggests, the highlighter has a lightly bouncy texture and upon application, it feels slightly cooling and lightweight. It's fairly easy to layer on top of powder and sets to a smudge-resistant wear.
On the back of the hand, the highlighter provides a subtle champagne sheen. However, when worn on the cheeks where the pores are more pronounced, the product appears
very sparkly. The shimmers are also harder to build so you get more glitter than sheen. Overall, I like the texture and the feel of this highlighter. However, I prefer a more sophisticated sheen and this formulation simply contains too many sparkles.
Givenchy | Rouge Interdit Vinyl Lipstick in "N°17 African Copper" & "N°18 African Raspberry" ($41 CAD for 3.3g each):
With a lightweight and super high-shine finish, the Rouge Interdit Vinyl Lipstick comes in two limited edition shades for this collection. "
N°17 African Copper" is a sophisticated burnt brownish red scattered with fine golden shimmers. The lipstick is sheer but highly buildable. The color feels more fall than summer to me but it's gorgeous nevertheless. Additionally, I think it would look really good for those with tan or darker skin tones.
"
N°18 African Raspberry" is a stunning bright pink. This one contains some iridescent shimmers but the effect is barely noticeable. In terms of pigmentation, the color is a bit more intense in comparison but it still retains a juicy, semi-translucent finish. Both shades have a slick, buttery texture and they feel so comfortable and hydrating on the lips. There is no bleeding or bunching but the colors do fade with light eating and drinking. I reviewed some permanent shades from the Rouge Interdit Vinyl range before (see
here) but none of them really stood out to me as much. Both shades here are a lot more pigmented in comparison and they are just as lightweight and moisturizing. So if you like these colors, then definitely pick them up from Sephora or Holt Renfrew before they sell out!
