For Summer 2018, Clarins is expanding its Hydra-Essentiel product line to introduce two new hydrating products for the eyes and lips. Designed to target tightness and fine lines, the Hydra-Essentiel Moisturizing Reviving Mask and Moisture Replenishing Lip Balm have been working wonders for me so I want to share with you my reviews of both today. Clarins | Hydra-Essentiel Moisturizing Reviving Eye Mask ($33 CAD):
Described as a hydrating eye mask that can be worn for ten minutes or left on overnight, the Hydra-Essentiel Moisturizing Reviving Eye Mask has a lightweight gel-cream texture. Formulated with hydrating quinoa and leaf of life extract, the eye mask comes in a convenient squeeze tube equipped with a fine-tipped spout dispenser. To me, the idea of applying and removing a cream mask for the eyes seems very wasteful so I've actually been using this as an eye cream. The mask absorbs just as well as any eye cream so there is no sticky or silicone-y residue. I find the product to be extremely hydrating and nourishing because when I wake up in the morning, my eye area feels so smooth and plump. Overall, this is a fantastic eye cream! The formulation isn't greasy or heavy but it's incredibly hydrating. For $33, it beats any eye creams I've used in the past few months so I'd say this is a must-try!
Ingredients: Aqua/Water/Eau, Pentaerythrityl Tetraethylhexanoate, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Propanediol, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/Vp Copolymer, Boron Nitride, Phenoxyethanol, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Xylitylglucoside, Tromethamine, Hydroxyethylacrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Anhydroxylitol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Chenopodium Quinoa Seed Extract, Xylitol, Escin, Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan) Extract, Disodium EDTA, Parfum/Fragrance, Biosaccharide Gum-4, Glucose, Peg-8 Methyl Ether Dimethicone, Kalanchoe Pinnata Leaf Extract, Citric Acid, Sodium Benzoate. Potassium Sorbate, Sorbic Acid, CI 42090/Blue 1
Clarins | Hydra-Essentiel Moisture Replenishing Lip Balm ($20 CAD):
Housed in a simple squeeze tube paired with a slanted applicator, the Hydra-Essentiel Moisture Replenishing Lip Balm features a rich, liquid petroleum base infused with blue lotus wax, shea butter, cupuaçu butter, vitamin E, and cocoa extract. With a slight hint of pink, the balm applies clear and immediately provides a soothing, moisturizing barrier. The texture is thick but not overly sticky. When used overnight, the balm provides a long-lasting hydration so even when I wake up in the morning, my lips feel plump and softened. If you wear a lot of liquid lipsticks, this is the perfect nighttime balm to prepare the lips for the day. These are pretty similar to the Jack Black Moisture Therapy Lip Balms (my all time favorite lip balm), but the Clarins formulation is slightly more liquid and considerably more expensive. The bottom line is that this is an amazing liquid lip balm. However, with the $20 price tag, I'm not sure it's one that I will re-purchase given the availability of cheaper alternatives on the market.
Ingredients: Paraffinum Liquidum/Mineral Oil/Huile Minerale, Diisostearyl Malate, Paraffin, Hydrogenated Styrene/ Isoprene Copolymer, Cera Microcristallina/Microcrystalline Wax/Cire Microcristalline, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Polyethylene, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyce Ride, Synthetic Wax, Nylon-12, Nymphaea Caerulea Flower Extract, Theobroma Grandiflorum Seed Butter, Octyldodecanol, Silica, Aroma/Flavor, Tocopherol, Hydrogenated Microcrystalline Wax, Oryzanol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Ceramide 3, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Anise Alcohol, CI 15850/Red 7 Lake
