Fresh is known for its amazing face mask offerings and for Spring 2018, the brand is adding a new member to its evergrowing family. Formulated with lotus extract and packed with bits of seaweed, algae, and lotus seed powder, the
Lotus Youth Preserve Rescue Mask ($75 CAD) promises instantly smoothed and renewed skin. To read all about this new mask and read my review, click......
Housed in an elegant frosted glass jar, the Lotus Youth Preserve Rescue Mask is described as a "five-minute" facial designed to "instantly reset the skin while targeting dullness, rough texture, and uneven skin tone". With a rich, milky appearance in the jar, the mask is surprisingly lightweight but creamy. Dispersed with bits of kombu seaweed, red algae, lotus seed powder, and coconut shell powder, the mask provides a gentle exfoliation that smooths dry patches and buffs away dead skin cells. The key ingredient here is the "Super 7 Complex", which is a combination of seven botanical extracts (lemon, cucumber, fig, starfruit, sea fennel, lotus, okra) that hydrate and boost skin radiance.
The mask has a subtle cucumber scent and it's easy to spread on the face. The formulation is instantly soothing and I love the gentle, gritty texture. I did experience some tingling and stinging after a couple of minutes but the sensation is mild and tolerable. The mask sets after five or so minutes and turns slightly transparent but it's not drying or tightening. To remove, simply rinse off with warm water but a damp face cloth will help expedite the process. The mask provides noticeable hydration and my skin felt refreshed and renewed. The formulation leaves no oily or sticky residue and it's mild and non-sensitizing. Personally, I prefer the Fresh Vitamin Nectar Vibrancy-Boosting Face Mask (reviewed
here) or the Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask (reviewed
here) for soothing and hydrating but the Lotus Youth Preserve Rescue Mask does contain some scrubby particles the other two don't so there are pros and cons to weigh. Overall, however, this is a gentle, hydrating mask suitable for all skin types. If you enjoy a relaxing cream mask that hydrates, conditions, and lightly exfoliates, then this is a good one to try!
