Offering a soft and ethereal selection of holographic and chrome nail polishes, the new
Revlon Holochrome Collection ($6.99 CAD) is definitely a unique take on the spring pastel palette. It's rare to find good holographic polishes at the drugstore so I'm very interested in testing these out. How well do they actually perform? Read on to find out......
100 Hologasm:
This is a shimmery pale silver scattered with a subtle sprinkling of holographic sparkles. The formulation is disappointingly sheer and runny. I used two coats for the swatches below but the patchy finish would have probably benefitted from a third coat.

105 Galactic Pink:
A soft lavender pink, this is a subtle scattered holo similar in style to "100 Hologasm". The formulation is slightly more pigmented but still a bit runny. I used two coats for the swatches below and the finish is reasonably opaque and even.

110 Unicornicopia:
This is a dusty periwinkle blue that's essentially a blue version of the previous shades. The formulation is sheer and runny but two coats provide an adequately presentable finish.

115 Fairy Dust:
A pretty seafoam green shimmer scattered with subtle holographic glitters, Fairy Dust is sheer and runny. It's not as patchy as "100 Hologasm" but the formulation is still not ideal. I used two coats for the swatches below but it could have benefitted from a third.

120 Amethyst Smoke:
This is an oil slick green-purple duochrome with a streaky, frosty finish. I used two coats for the swatches below but the coverage is actually quite patchy in person. Similar to the previous shades, the polish is just too sheer and runny.

125 Blushing:
A pretty metallic frost, "125 Blushing" is a light pink with a slight hint of gold. The formulation is sheer and quite streaky but two coats gave a nice enough finish.

135 Molten Magic:
A high-shine molten silver chrome, "135 Molten Magic" is reasonably pigmented but very streaky. If you are looking for a similar polish with a much better formulation, check out "
001 Miroir" from Dior or "
I Drive A Supernova" from OPI.

This is a comparison swatch of "105 Galactic Pink". On the left is the polish under bright sunlight and on the right is the polish under artificial light. As you can see, even under bright sunlight, the holographic effect is rather subtle, so under most conditions, the polish appears as a fine shimmer scattered with pale white silver sparkles.

Revlon Nail Enamel in "105 Galactic Pink" | Sunlight vs. Artificial Light |
Overall, this is a very disappointing collection from Revlon. I like the shade selection a lot and I don't mind a subtler holographic effect. However, all the polishes are simply too sheer and runny for a two-coat application. The formulation kept on pooling around the cuticles and the finish was either patchy or streaky.
