As you may know, I use a lot of products from Lush and recently, I've accumulated five empty containers to bring back in stores to exchange for a Fresh Face Mask. I've tried quite a few different varieties but the Oatfix Fresh Face Mask ($9.95 CAD for 60g) was one that I've yet to cross off of my list. Designed for sensitive, dry, or irritated skin, Oatfix is made with a blend of soothing oatmeal, fresh mashed banana, and scrubby ground almonds. To learn more and read my review, click......
Made with glycerine, oatmeal, fresh bananas, ground almonds, illipe butter, kaolin, and vanilla, Oatfix is arguably one of the yummiest-smelling products from the Lush catalogue. With a sweet vanilla banana scent, the mask is almost good enough to eat. Like the rest of the Fresh Face Mask range, Oatfix needs to be refrigerated to ensure freshness. When first removed from the fridge, the mask has a thick, pasty texture. However, once spread on the face, it softens and melts into a rich, honey-like texture. Thanks to the ground oatmeal and almonds, the mask actually provides a gentle exfoliation, in addition to the soothing, nourishing feel.
Although the scent is heavenly and the texture gritty and rich, Oatfix does have a pretty big drawback. After leaving it on the face for about ten minutes, the mask washes off easily with some warm water and a damp washcloth. However, no matter how well I rinse, Oatfix leaves behind a noticeable greasy residue. Despite being extremely calming and hydrating, the illipe butter proved to be too rich for the face. I ended up having to use a foam cleanser to get rid of the heavy, almost waxy residue. Now, if you have extremely dry skin, the residue may actually be a good thing. However, for anyone with normal, oily, or combination skin, the leftover texture is just too icky to bear. Overall, this could have been the perfect mask but the heavy, greasy residue is a dealbreaker for me.
