Capture Youth Collection introduces five new serums and one face cream. Targetting key skin concerns such as diminished radiance and elasticity, the serums can be used alone or mixed together, either before applying the Age-Delay Advanced Creme or combined directly into the cream. The base product designed to be used after or mixed with the Capture Youth serums, the
Dior Capture Youth Age-Delay Advanced Creme ($120 CAD for 50ml) is housed in a sturdy but elegant plastic jar. Formulated with shea butter, jojoba oil, sodium hyaluronate, and vitamin E, the cream also contains the extract of iris florentina root, which is believed to restore the epidermis glyoxalase system involved in the skin's natural antioxidant defense. With a subtle and pleasant perfume scent, the cream has a smooth and lightweight texture that immediately melts into the skin. While providing a long-lasting hydration, the formulation doesn't feel heavy or greasy so the product is suitable for both night and day use. Overall, this is a really nice face cream for those in their 20s and 30s. Although designed for use with the Capture Youth serums, the formulation is nourishing enough to be used on its own. I've noticed that a lot of skincare brands (Dior included) don't provide full ingredient lists online so I'm going to try my best to provide that information in my future skincare reviews.
Up next is the
Dior Capture Youth Glow Booster Age-Delay Illuminating Serum ($120 CAD for 30ml), one of the five serums available as a part of the Capture Youth Collection. With a runny, deep amber appearance, this serum is housed in a very fancy glass bottle paired with a convenient dropper dispenser. The serum is formulated with AHA (glycolic acid), vitamin C, murunga plum extract (another source of vitamin C), iris extract, and vitamin E. It helps gently and effectively exfoliate the skin, diminishing the appearance of fine lines and enlarged pores.
Because I love serums with a runny, watery texture that leaves behind no palpable residue on the skin, the Glow Booster is just a dream to apply. It absorbs very efficiently and doesn't interfere with moisturizer and makeup application. The formulation has a mild floral fragrance and it also mixes well with most moisturizers. I've been pairing this with the Lift Sculptor Serum (see below) and my skin has actually improved in texture and radiance. No matter your age, AHA is a great ingredient to incorporate into your skincare so the Glow Booster is an excellent option if you want the added benefit of vitamin C. The
Dior Capture Youth Lift Sculptor Age-Delay Lifting Serum ($120 CAD) is made with polyphenols derived from green, white, and rooibos tea. Also formulated with antioxidant iris extract and soothing oat kernel extract, this serum increases elastin production to improve skin contours. Although on the runnier side, the Lift Sculptor is much more viscous than the Glow Booster. The formulation spreads easily on the skin and absorbs fairly quickly, leaving behind a slightly tacky but non-greasy texture. Lifting and tightening aren't really my skin concerns right now so it's hard to say just how effective this serum is. However, I'm all for preventative skin interventions so I don't mind adding this to my daily routine. With that said, I would actually recommend this to an older skincare enthusiast, despite the fact that the Capture Youth Collection is targeted towards a younger clientele.
Last but not least in the
Dior Capture Youth Plump Filler Age-Delay Plumping Serum ($120 CAD). Formulated with hyaluronic acid derived from fermented oat, this is a hydrating serum that's also made with sodium hyaluronate (a smaller version of hyaluronic acid that better penetrates the skin), ginger extract, iris extract, and vitamin E. With a milky, slightly viscous consistency, the serum spreads easily and leaves behind a light and refreshing feel. I love anything containing hyaluronic acid but this serum contains way too much silicones (third and seventh ingredients) which simply sits atop of the skin. It's not noticeable at first but after half an hour or so, I experienced an outrageous amount of pilling. I literally had my hand rested on my face for a couple of minutes while sitting in front of the computer and visible pieces of white debris came right off when I removed my hand! What makes it worse is the fact that this happened while I was only wearing a thin application of the Capture Youth cream on top. The cream doesn't pill over the other two serums so the culprit is definitely the Plump Filler. This is not a big deal for nighttime wear but during the day, what with foundation and powders layered on top, the serum could cause a major makeup meltdown.
Overall, I'm a big fan of this collection! From the beautiful packaging to the thoughtful selection of key ingredients, the Capture Youth range is certainly "captivating". The serum-mixing idea is nothing extraordinary yet the wide selection is great for targetting different skin concerns. Given that this collection is designed for a younger clientele, the hefty price tags are a little difficult to swallow. Nevertheless, all of these products are equally beneficial for older skin so if you've got the funds to invest, I'd definitely recommend giving these a go. My personal picks are the Lift Sculptor and the Glow Booster.
