For Spring 2018,
Givenchy is expanding its lip color collection with six new shades of the
Le Rouge Mat Lipsticks and a revamped
Gloss Interdit Vinyl formulation. To see some swatches and read my reviews of a few shades, click......
Givenchy | Gloss Interdit Vinyl ($37 CAD):
Reformulated and repackaged for Spring 2018, the Gloss Interdit Vinyl is a line of plush, high-shine, light coverage lip glosses available in 12 shades. Housed in a clear tube and a lace-studded cap similar to that of the Rouge Interdit Lipsticks (reviewed
here), the lip gloss is paired with a unique G-shaped doe-foot applicator. The design looks super cool but it's not great at evenly applying the gloss. The concave curve of the "G" kind of scrapes off the gloss instead of spreading it smoothly.
I have here two star shades from the collection. "
02 Rose Révélateur" appears completely clear in the tube but turns to a pretty translucent pink when applied to the lips. "
16 Noir Révélateur", on the other hand, is a translucent sparkly black that also turns a little pink when applied to the lips. The color doesn't transform completely so it gives the lips a vampy black tint. Unlike "Rose Révélateur", however, "Noir Révélateur" has a noticeably patchy coverage, even when used on top of a base lip color. Therefore, I am not completely sold on the shade.
Both glosses are light and non-sticky. They are nicely hydrating without feeling wet and the finish has a plumping, cushiony effect. I'm honestly not a fan of lip glosses but "Rose Révélateur" makes for a great everyday lip color since it's basically a shiny, liquid version of the Givenchy Le Rouge Perfecto (reviewed
here) or the Dior Lip Glow (reviewed
here).
Givenchy | Le Rouge Mat Lipstick ($44 CAD):
Promising a pigmented and velvety finish, the new Le Rouge Mat is a six-shade color extension of the pre-existing Le Rouge Lipstick Collection. "
329 Rouge Stiletto" is a bright true red. The pigmentation is just right and the formulation is super lightweight. "
331 Pourpre Défilé" is a vampy burgundy. This shade is a lot more even and pigmented than I expected but the coverage is still just a tad patchy. Both colors feel comfortable and non-drying and the finish is actually pretty matte. The colors aren't transfer-proof by any means but they last well through light eating and drinking.
