24-Hour wear, full-coverage, and water-based, the new
DiorSkin Forever Undercover Foundation ($64 CAD) is the newest addition to the
Dior complexion family. Offering 24 shades in a natural matte finish, this foundation contains the highest level of pigments out of all Dior foundations. So is it as amazing as it sounds? Read my review and see some swatches to find out......
Packaging:
The DiorSkin Forever Undercover Foundation comes in a simple rectangular bottle equipped with tiny spout opening. The bottle is squeezable so it's easy to control exactly how much product is dispensed. The overall packaging is definitely not as fancy as that of other Dior products but the bottle design is highly practical and hygienic.
Formulation:
Promising a full coverage, 24-hour wear, the DiorSkin Forever Undercover Foundation is water-based and lightweight. Despite being in a squeeze bottle, the formulation is not very runny. The coverage is high but nothing over-the-top. I find it only slightly more pigmented than the DiorSkin Forever Perfect Foundation (reviewed
here). The texture blends easily and sets to a natural matte finish. However, the formulation definitely emphasizes dry patches and uneven skin textures. Even when first applied, the foundation clung to the pores around my brows and nose, making them appear more pronounced than they actually are. As time went on, the pigments settled even more, making those areas look parched and uneven. After just seven or so hours, the area around between my brows looked super bumpy and wrinkly, which is definitely not a good look.
Although there are 24 shades available, the color selection feels quite limited, especially for those with pale skin. I have here "
010 Ivory", one of the lightest shades. It is described as "very light with neutral undertone". However, the color oxidizes a bit immediately after application and it has a subtle but unflattering reddish-yellow undertone. Overall, I'm not too impressed with this foundation. Promising an extreme wear and super full coverage, the Forever Undercover seems to fall short on both accounts. If you are interested in a good high-end foundation, look no further than the
DiorSkin Forever Perfect Foundation, which beats out the Forever Undercover in every way possible.
