New for Spring and Summer 2018,
Christian Louboutin Beauty has released a miniature-sized nail polish collection called the
Loubitag Nail Collection ($75 CAD each). Inspired by Christion's love for his fans, the collection celebrates the heartfelt stories of the brand's loyal followings. Adorned with doodles embodying the designer's "Open Eyes, Open Heart....and please, No Selfies!" motto, the collection is available for a limited time only. Packaging:
Available in three versions (Loubitag Collection I, II, & III), the Loubitag Collections each contain two miniature bottles of Christian Louboutin's Nail Colours housed in a pretty origami box adorned with Christian's on-the-spot doodles. All the shades are from The Pop Collection so none of them are new colors. The full-sized bottles contain 13ml of polish while these mini-sized versions contain 6ml. I thought the packaging would be a lot smaller but they are about 75% of the original in terms of height. Everything is still very well-made so even though these are mini-sized, they don't feel any less expensive.
Formulation:
In the
Loubitag Collection I, you get a barbie pink cream called "
Pluminette" and a classic mint teal called "
Batignolles". Both are very pigmented shades but I find the formulation a little tricky to work with. Although not visibly viscous, the polishes set very quickly, making it difficult to obtain a smooth and even finish. For the swatches below, I ended up using three coats and a top coat for both, which is less than desirable. I plan on thinning these out with a polish thinner to see if the application can be improved.

In the
Loubitag Collection III, there's a rich orange-red with just a hint of translucency called "
Edgypopi" and a bright royal blue called "
Baraboum". "Egypopi" is very pigmented and creamy so two coats give a smooth and rich finish. "Baraboum", on the other hand, was quite sheer. Therefore, I needed three coats to obtain an even and non-patchy coverage.

Overall, the Christian Louboutin Loubitag Nail Collection is undoubtly fun and pretty. The packaging is exquisite while the colors are fresh and spring-ready. However, the formulation left a lot to be desired. If you are a collector, then these mini-sized polishes can't be missed but if you are simply invested in the colors, then I would recommend looking elsewhere. With that said, "Egypopi" is a standout so if you are a fan of bright orange-reds, check out the full-sized version instead.
