Urban Decay x Kristen Leanne | Kaleidoscope Dream Eyeshadow Palette ($50 CAD):
An eleven shade palette (11.4g total) full of fun and electrifying brights, the Kaleidoscope Dream Eyeshadow Palette comes with a dual-ended mini eyeshadow brush. Included are seven shimmery metallics, two mattes, and one split pan sheer duo chromes. Formulation-wise, everything is just fantastic. The shadows are buttery rich and incredibly pigmented. The colors wear exactly as they appear in the pan but they are also highly blendable for a more natural look. See below for a breakdown of all eleven shades.
Spitfire: This is a shimmery pink with a very subtle lavender sheen.
LCW: Inspired by Kristen's favorite song "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress" by The Hollies, this is a stunning metallic blue. The pigmentation is through the room!
TRM: Named after Kristen's husband, TRM is a deep satin metallic navy blue.
Dye: This is an intense deep purple satin.
Corona: A natural metallic gold bronze, Corona is the most neutral shade out of the bunch.
Lime Time: This is a fun and bright lime green metallic.
Tajin: A burnt orange matte, Tajin is smooth and pigmented.
Stay Gold: This is a very unique yellow gold. The pigmentation is super intense!
Brixton + Leo: Named after Kristen's animals, this split pan duo includes a sheer lavender/blue shift shimmer (Leo) and a gorgeous pearl shimmer with a rosy sheen (Brixton). Both work as shadow toppers but they can also be used as cheek highlighters.
13th Floor: Named after Kristen's favorite Twilight Zone episode, this is a pitch dark matte black. The pigmentation is very impressive and the formulation is not at all patchy.
Below is a look I created using the Kaleidoscope Dream Eyeshadow Palette. I put "Spitfire" all over the lid and "Dye" on the outer corner. "Brixton" was added to the middle of the lid and on the inner corner for some shine and highlight. Lastly, I also used some "Spitfire" on the lower lash line for a little extra pop of color.
Urban Decay x Kristen Leanne | Daydream Eyeshadow Palette ($35 CAD):
A much more neutral palette in contrast to the Kaleidoscope Dream Palette, the Daydream Palette includes five warm-tone mattes (4g total). Also included is a dual-ended eyeshadow brush with a fluffy shader side and a tapered blending side. See below for a breakdown of all five shades.
Eight: Kristen's favorite number, Eight is a neutral dark brown. The eyeshadow is a little dusty. The pigmentation is slightly sheer but the texture is soft and silky.
Subscribe: A medium brown nude, Subscribe is pigmented and even.
12/12: Named for Kristen's birthday (December 12th), this is a really lovely soft peach. The color is a little sheer but the formulation is creamy and buildable.
Daydream: This is a light beige brown. The shadow is pigmented and creamy.
Lucy: An homage to Lucille Ball, Lucy is a creamy ivory with a sheer but buildable formulation.
Urban Decay x Kristen Leanne | Beauty Beam Highlight Palette ($45 CAD):
This is a three-shade highlighter palette (10.98g total) featuring a soft neutral gold shimmer, a warm champagne pearl, and a pretty beige champagne. The overall color scheme is quite warm so I think the palette is geared towards a more tanned complexion. With the exception of the middle shades, the highlighters provide more of a bronzing effect on my skin tone. Formulation-wise, all three shades are incredible. The pigmentation is super intense and the texture is ultra rich and creamy.
Urban Decay x Kristen Leanne | Vice Lipstick ($22 CAD each):
Housed in special hot pink Vice Lipstick packagings, these two lipsticks feature an ultra-pigmented formulation. They supposedly have a "comfort matte" finish but I would describe them more as satin creams. "Cloud9" is a dusty magenta while "Spellbound" is a deep cool-toned purple. Both shades are nicely pigmented and buildable to an opaque finish. They indeed feel very moisturizing and comfortable on the lips but I had some issues achieving clean lines around the edges of my lips so I would recommend pairing these with some lip liners.
Here is a full face makeup I created using the UDxKL collection. I went a little purple-crazy, pairing the eye makeup I did with the Vice Lipstick in "Cloud9". To jazz up the purple lipstick, I dabbed a bit of "Brixton" from the Kaleidoscope Dream Palette to the center of my lips. It made them look a lot fuller but it also gave the look a '90s vibe. This is definitely more of a just-for-fun look but paired with a more neutral lip, I would rock the purple shadows for a special occasion!
Overall, this is a really fun and well-formulated collection. All the shadows and highlighters are ultra pigmented and super creamy. I would have preferred some more plastic or metal elements in the packaging but the cardboard palettes are all very pretty and girly. Whether you are a fan of Kristen Leanne or fun, bright colors, definitely check out this limited edition range!
